Plus the so called Huckster did not help Mitt and gave us the Mummy McQueeg.
Well, his money almost bought it for him (and probably knocked some other good contenders out of the race). That said, the guy is a raving liberal, and wasn’t even pro-life until he realized he wasn’t going anywhere without it.
No, his religion had nothing to do with it. Like McPain, Romney couldn’t get the conservative support because people saw right through him as “Slick Mitt”.
Except that McCain is more conservative than Romney is.
Er, exactly why should anybody have “helped” Romney? He was even more of a RINO than McCain.
I don’t think it was the liberalism or the religion. It wasn’t the religion because being a moslem didn’t hurt Hussein. Being a liberal didn’t keep us from being saddled with McCain as a candidate.
It was that the msm WANTED McCain v. Hussein for the championship game, and they engineered it to get what they wanted. They wanted Romney, Guiliani and Hilary shuffled out, and they were shuffled out. They wanted Hussein to win so they ginned-up the September economic crisis.
It was a banana-republic window-dressing election from the get go.
What’s Romney’s religion got to do with him losing ???
Rudi is a Catholic, and he lost too...
But not because he is Catholic...
Duncan Hunter is a Baptist, and he lost too...
But not because he is Baptist...
RINO is a religion?
"Romeny-care" cost Romney any chance he will ever have for the Presidency.
That being said, democrats will happily persecute him for his religion and continue to play that angle as if it were from within the republican party.
True conservatives will simply continue to reject him on his policy.
Unfortunately for Romney, the MSM had been preparing the attacks on the LDS for over a year before the election, in preparation for his candidacy.
Unless mormonism somehow convinced him to pass socialized medicine, propose a “bail out” of GM like Obama, and be pro-abortion and ant-gun his political career, I’d say “no.”
That's my point with my /sarc comment. A lot of people set this up early on to blame religious bigotry, however, I doubt that 99.999% of people even gave it a second thought. Like myself, I'm sure most Conservatives wouldn't mind a Mormon president in the least, as long as he was a strong Conservative. The thing is Romney's politics sure didn't match what I understand the LDS church stands for.
I will believe Romney’s religion is not a factor when posts attacking Mormonism are not allowed on the News/Activism section of FR.
It may or it may not have. But I don’t believe he is the one we need now.
Actually getting called a bigot every time I suggested I may not vote for him is what really cost him my vote. He may not have said it but many of his supporters made their feelings known.l
This post definitely wasn’t posted with the intention of attacking Mormonism (as our Mormon members can tell you, I am pretty quick to defend them against unfair attacks).. if anything, it is to separate Romney the Liberal from the religion he claims to stand for..
Huckster, Mcqueer, and Romney put together weren’t worth a bucket of warm spit.
We had no candidates, except Fred, and Fred was too damn lazy to run.
ouch...
