Ever since Michelle Obama departed for Europe with her husband, taking along a wardrobe of designer clothes and revealing a new hairdo, her meeting with Carla Sarkozy, the wife of the French president, had been anticipated as a fashion face-off between two stylish first ladies.
Their meeting on Friday, at the Palais Rohan in Strasbourg, France, was not quite that. Indeed, Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Sarkozy looked remarkably similar, suggesting that both women know fashion and themselves pretty well. Each wore a coat with a soft bow at the neck and low-heeled shoes."snip" Considering that both women have been compared to Jacqueline Kennedy, and that Mrs. Sarkozy is a pop singer and former model, people might have been surprised by the dull sobriety of Mrs. Sarkozys outfit. But in the year since her marriage to President Nicolas Sarkozy, the French first lady has proved to be far more refined in her look than trendy.
She chooses clothes with a relatively clean silhouette, like the Dior coat, or a black velvet Azzedine Alaïa gown she wore last week, or a navy Yves Saint Laurent dress she wore to an AIDS benefit in Paris in January. When she met Queen Elizabeth II last year, Mrs. Sarkozy was dressed top-to-toe in Dior, but in a way it was almost a costume of prim first lady elegance, and she has since toned that down and injected more, it seems, of herself."snip"
The meeting between Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Sarkozy may not have been the showdown that fashion bloggers expected, but the American first lady has received the kind of coverage typically reserved for, well, supermodels. At times it has been gushy. The Web site for LExpress in Paris ran an article titled The Ten Commandments of Michelle Obamas Style.

There must be some anti-nausea medicine available for these kinds of stories.
LOL! Good one!
Do the people who write this garbage care about reality?
Obviously not...

Incredible fawning, blindness, and stupidity, on the part of the ObamaMad MSM.
After the fake brouhaha over Sarah Palin’s wardrobe spending, has the MSM asked who is paying for all this stuff? And who is paying for the obviously many makeup artists, hair stylists and flunkies that follow Aunt Esther around?
Go at it! Post away guys! If you have any pictures, post them.
ENJOY!
Yves...Dior? Are we paying for this? BARF
What an appropriate name for the writer: ‘cuz Cathy is ‘Horyn’! Nobody toadies like the Brits, but with writers like this, we are coming close.
Let’s see....(thinking...)...they do both walk upright....
Michelle, my belle, has NO STYLE, SUBTANCE or love for anyone but herself. She is unattractive on the INSIDE and it shows on the OUTSIDE.
Uh...press...excuse me...I...uh...hate...to...interupt your irrelevance fest....but, the idiot just did away with American sovereignty. Wouldn’t you like to take a break from printing fantasy stories about how Michelle’s clothes aren’t ugly and print something important every once in a while?
LOL :)
Carla pays for her own DIOR.
The US Gov’t, i.e. you and I, are footing the bill for thevObamas European Grand Tour with 500 flunkies .
Michelle, my belle, has NO STYLE, SUBSTANCE or love for anyone but herself. She is unattractive on the INSIDE and it shows on the OUTSIDE.
Mishelle, my belle, is trendy. Trendy people accept everything coming down the pike because they are INSECURE in who they are and want to fit in and get attention.
She looks great.
” ... but, the idiot just did away with American sovereignty.”
Yes and that is why the NYT focuses on the petty unimportant outcomes. The NYT is shallow. The NYT doesn’t print any redeeming news.
