ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - An already close race in New York's 20th Congressional District just got as close as it can possibly get: The state Board of Elections says the candidates are separated by zero votes.
Republican Jim Tedisco and Democrat Scott Murphy are tied with 77,225 votes each on Friday. They're running to replace Kirsten Gillibrand, who was appointed to the U.S. Senate.
The race will come down to absentee votes, with the elections board reporting 3,000 ballots returned so far from Republicans and about 2,200 from Democrats.
Party registration doesn't guarantee a vote. Most absentee ballots won't be counted until April 7. Overseas ballots can be returned until April 13.
Counties also have 940 ballots back from absentee voters not registered as Republican or Democrat.
Not sure. That was posted about 10 a.m. Friday. I know recounts are ongoing.
Hope you’re right. My county, Warren, has always bee a Rep. stronghold, but the media (The Post-Star with its Dem sycophant, Maury Thompson) has been working hard to change that. Cripe. We had Paterson at a health center up the street the other day and Chucky Schmoozer making phone calls to get the Flyers farm team to relocate to the Civic Center.
It is interesting how many races over the past years involving hundreds of thousands or millions of votes were within a few hundred votes of each other at the end.
Without electoral fraud, what are the statistical chances of that?
I will be shocked if the democrat loses. I believe the election process is now little more than a show.
Anytime an election is close, the left always seems to “find” enough votes to pull ahead. It is all a scam.
We watch it happen time and again. And they get away with it. Because WE let them.
The country as we knew it is done and gone and can only be saved by , well, “uncomfortable” methods.
I sure would like to be proved wrong.
(Is it time yet?)
Overtime has begun. We won’t know for weeks.

I'm old enough to remember when people stopped "running" after election day.
Good point. For some reason conservatives tend to whine, even during victories.
Ever get the feeling that your ONE SINGLE VOTE doesn’t count?
Well, you’d be wrong.
“Most absentee ballots won’t be counted until April 7. Overseas ballots can be returned until April 13.”
In other words, the MSM is advertising for more dem votes. If it the numbers were reversed, this would not be reported.
Wow, someone who agrees with me. IMO the 2008 presidential election was a coup—nothing more or less. The man sitting in the WH has not proven his US citizenship and I suspect the actual vote was engineered way beyond what has been usual.
What is really galling is that the RINO-led GOP allowed it to happen. When will conseratives wake up to the fact that the GOP is owned lock, stock and barrel by the demrats?
That shouldn't happen, if the law is observed. All absentee ballots had to have been postmarked no later than March 30 - the day prior to the election.
Yes, it was represented by Ms. Gillenbrand (D), who vacated her House seat when she was appointed to the US Senate. So if Tedisco wins - and he most likely will, considering the party registrations of the absentee voters - it would be a pickup for the GOP.
This is not a Democrat district, though, in terms of party registrations of voters, which are +70,000 in favor of the GOP.
The ballots must be postmarked by March 30 to count, so, unless the ‘Rats can pull off some massive postal fraud, your scenario will not occur.
Tedisco (R) appears confident that he'll win this race, so confident that he announced that he'll resign from current minority leader position in the NY state assembly and begin to work on "transitioning" to his new job in Washington.
I suppose he presumes that, given the party registration alignment of the absentee ballots remaining to be tallied, he'll get a comfortable majority of them.

Okay, lets do the math... Republican gets all 3000 absentee votes "minus" the 2200 Democrat votes which leaves 800 vote difference.
Now that leaves 940 Independent votes which miraculously will all go Democratic and the Republican will loose by 140 votes.
God I'm Good! LOL
I’d have counseled Tedisco to not resign until it was made official. We all know how rodents have a nasty habit of stealing elections. Plus the rodents have also been known (in their role as majority and final arbiters of its membership) to seat losers (see IN-8, McCloskey v. McIntyre, 1985).
I wonder by what margin the number of returned ballots will exceed the number sent out?

That’s good to hear! I will be more than happy to be wrong on this one!
He has more confidence in the democrats not finding a way to Stuart Smiley him than I would have.
If the 3,000 GOP and 2,400 Dem absentee ballots have already been counted (as I interpreted in this article), then I’m not so sure
