Gingrich Warns of Conservative 3rd Party in 2012

Friday, April 3, 2009 8:53 AM

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich warns that conservatives could leave the GOP and form a third party in 2012 if Republicans don’t do more to rein in government spending.

“If the Republicans can’t break out of being the right wing party of big government, then I think you would see a third party movement in 2012, Gingrich said during an address to students at the College of the Ozarks in Missouri.

An excellent idea. What would be nice would be for the “Blue Dogs” to leave the Democrats and form their own party. We would have 4 “major” parties: Democrats (Socialists & Communists), Republicans (what remains without the Conservatives), Conservatives (us) and Moderates (Blue Dogs). That would make for some very interesting elections.

Well then we lose in 2012 and forward. Look at this race in NY20, 10,000 votes for a third party candidate. Look at MN.. third party candidate, look at GA, third party candidate... look at Ross Perot! third party candidate! I thought Newt was smarter than this.

The problem with the GOP is not the rank and file Republican, nor is it basic Republican Philosophy.

The problem with the GOP is the entitled elitist liberal moneyed RINOs like Chrissie Whitman of “Its my Party Too” infamy. They are basically liberal social Democrats and only support the Republicans as they view the Democrats as too radical - threats to their often inherited, not earned, wealth.

They want a Republican Party which will not rock the social boat or push culture war buttons. They want a Republican Party which will merely protect their personal affluence. In order to do so, they are willing to jettison ANY social issues which arein the least bit controversial.

Their vast wealth and connections make it very difficult to oppose these people within the framework of the Republican Party. It is as though they are alien parasitic hosts which have taken over a vulnerable body.

Gingrich is right on the mark here. Unless the GOP dumps the Steeles, the Martinezes, the Grahams, the Spectors, etc., it is finished.

They are out there, many of them. Whether any of them will step up to save the country and run, who knows. Also, it is hard to break through the media wall and be heard.

People already in politics? There is Jindal, though his style needs coaching in a few basic ways. Palin is wonderful when she is allowed a mic. Flake, Pence, to name a couple others. But those two we desperately need in Congress!

Let's wait and see who the next gov of CA is, there are many possibilities. But whoever it is, needs to have some very savvy tech guys behind them, and a sense of humor to point out silliness similar to the way Reagan was able to with a charming smile! And in case people tell you otherwise, America still loves a cowboy!

We have needed a good Conservative Party for the last 6 years. Scrap the GOP and start over fresh with a new party, a reform party, A true conservative party. If we just stuck to the same old two party system we would still have the Whigs around. Once the Republicans were a 3rd Party. It needs to be grass roots and go for the smaller offices first—then to the national level. To lead the party we need a charismatic leader -—I think we need a war hero that is admired and trusted. We need a new set people—NO RINO RETREADS. Out symbol should be the Rattlesnake or the Raccoon, and the Pitchfork and burning torch. We want real change not talk.

The Democrats and RINO Republicans are the Same Party! They have been corrupted with big money. Today we have a single party masquerading as two competitive parties.

What do you mean “the GOP” the GOP didn’t elect McCain. New Hampshire is an OPEN state — worse you can show up on election day, state you “plan” to move to NH and want to vote in your new state in advance, they allow you to register and vote that same date... the parking lots were full of voters from PA, MA, NY... many crossed over and voted McCain. THEN the media all pounced, said McCain was the front-runner for the nomination (never mind that Huckabee — who I dislike BTW) had won Iowa Caucus)... next was SC and by then the sheep were all told McCain was winning and they voted for him, which sent him into Florida with a head of steam and then he twisted Martinez and Crist’s arms and turned that vote on a literal dime... after that it was all over but the shouting.... so, don’t blame this on the GOP... unless you mean the arcane voting regulations both parties have which allows this crap to happen.

>>>>>Yep, and precisely the reason why this will result in the Democrats winning from now on.... (can someone say H. Ross Perot?).... LOL...

If you look at history, you'll see that the Democrats have gotten their way for most of the last 75 years.

Other then Reagan halting the march of liberalism during the 1980`s and Newt's CWA Congress holding power and governing as conservatives for 4-5 years in the 1990`s, the GOP's moderate nominees for president and the spineless GOP Congresses during the the Bush Presidency, have had little success in stopping the liberal establishment from imposing their leftist agenda on America.

Newt at least has the Contract With America on his resume.

Yes, and he went right into the toilet after that one.

Now a third party that focused on only wining seats in the house and senate would be far more effective.

Now there is someone who understands. Regionalism is in some places stronger than Nationalism. The Globalists hate both of them.

I cannot believe that we are seeing another attempt at the garbage that Woodrow Wilson tried to pull off.

But this time it is lead by a committed Commie, and his globalist fiends who intend to destroy the U.S. citizen's freedom forever.
