Romney breaks with GOP on the issue of deregulation [and immigration reform]
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2009-04-01 | Reid Wilson

Posted on 04/02/2009 7:03:53 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) said Wednesday that his party needs to take a fresh approach to government regulations in the wake of the economic crisis that has rattled the U.S. and world economies.

In an interview with The Hill, Romney said, “We as Republicans misspeak when we say we don’t like regulation. We like modern, up-to-date dynamic regulation that is regularly reviewed, streamlined, modernized and effective.”

. . . . .

Romney believes that one way to attract more minorities to the GOP is to pass immigration reform before the next election, saying the issue becomes demagogued by both parties on the campaign trail.

“We have a natural affinity with Hispanic-American voters, Asian-American voters,” he said.

Yep. Four more years of Zero!!! Yah!

Romney would out-Obama Obama if he thought it would win him the White House in 2012. Want me to go back and post some of his (apparently completely bogus) tough talk on illegal immigration from the last campaign? Contrasted with his previous comments from before he was running for the GOP nomination? The man has no core political values to speak of, othere than advancing his own political career by any means necessary.

Goodbye Romney.

I have lost ALL respect for this politician.

Should have caught onto his act when he came up with that loser health insurance fiasco in Mass.

He is now firmly ensconced in the Washington, D.C. "Anything For a Vote" club.

Next thing he'll be trying to sign up space aliens:

"Don't laugh, earthling!"

Immigration reform is nothing more than a buzz word for amnesty. What is really needed is for a GOP candidate to demand that the border be enforced, the wall be built, and that employers of illegals be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. In addition, someone should call out Obama’s justice department for harassing the sherriff in Arizona who is doing the job that Obama just won't do.

Good find! Is he nuts? Looks like he doesn’t like PhD’s very much as his true self is coming out the more he talks. Are people on here still wanting to call him a conservative or are they only on the threads they start which are propoganda?

Romney may have the money which a lot was inherited from his Dad, but one thing the man does not have is class to make that statement. Disgusting but what I would expect to find out of an elitist WITHOUT the PhD education.

Well, I see the positive in Romney's coming out party. Ya think it might be possible for the blinders to come off the Romney bot's eyes now so they can now see him for the RINO LIBERAL that he is??!?!?? I think we can now officially say:

Romnesty!

Apparently some of the Romney hardcores won’t bother taking the first step of the five-step process. They will instead turn on a dime with their talking points. After yelling at us for months that Mitt really is a conservative (while spinning away his blatant liberal past), they will now turn around and say that Mitt’s change of position demonstrates his brilliant political acumen (while spinning away the fact that the shift shows he doesn’t have any real conservative political convictions). Anyone who still claims Romney is a conservative with core convictions will be discredited going forward.

There is one key difference between McCain and Romney. You at least knew where McCain stood on amnesty. Romney’s views on the subject changed with the political winds.

“We as Republicans misspeak when we say we don’t like regulation.”

Wrong again. Exactly wrong. Precisely wrong. Totally wrong. Metaphysically, transcendentally, and diabolically wrong.

Seems like Mitt is “triangulating” himself into oblivion.

Stupid move on his part. Par for the course for the GOP.

I guess the LSD posters will be here shortly to say everyone who disagrees with Mitt is abti-Mormon when really we’re anti-moron.

Hey Mitt STFU you are nothing more then an ultra left-wing republican supporter of fascism.

I am one of those Romneybots. I will not support him after this statement on AMNESTY.

I have also heard that Sarah supports amnesty. Please, someone, tell me I’m wrong. Is there anyone left who respects the rule of law in this country?
