WASHINGTON -- Most media polls are showing President Obama's job approval in the 59 percent to mid-60 percent range, but not pollster John Zogby, who says Obama's rating has dipped below 50 percent.
Contrary to many of the other major presidential surveys such as the venerable Gallup Poll, which puts Obama's number at around 60 percent or higher, Zogby's poll (mid-March) showed that Obama's job performance fell. His findings are significant for a number of definitional reasons and are worth a closer look.
In his most recent survey, the pollster said that "49 percent rate his job performance as excellent or good, and 50 percent as fair or poor (less than 1 percent were not sure). That is a dip of 3 points from the previous poll," Zogby said last week.
His numbers, as with other pollsters, show a huge partisan divide in how Americans rate Obama at this point in his young presidency. Ninety-one percent of Democrats score Obama favorably, compared with only 14 percent Republicans.
On job performance alone, 87 percent of Democrats rate him excellent or good, compared with just 9 percent of Republicans.
But if Gallup scores Obama's job performance at 60 percent or better, why are Zogby's numbers so much lower?

Gallup Poll called my cell phone the other afternoon, while I was trying to get home from church to make supper. I hung up immediately.
They all seem to be ignoring rassmussen which also shows 50 per cent or less approval rating.
“This week’s revealing Washington Post poll found “the nation’s overall mood remains gloomy... the political climate is once again highly polarized.”

You think?
I'm of the opinion that we will see some kind of an uptick in the economy with all of the liquidity thrown in by the “stimulus” and bailouts. This will be short lived however. What I envision is a gradual erosion in buying power caused by the inevitable inflationary spiral caused by this reckless governmental spending. This will be Obama’s legacy.
Is this a test or just my share of the Stimulus package
No, rasmussen shows 59% approval.
Zogby’s is an internet poll and maybe you remember that ewven his real polls showed McCain leading 1 week pior to the election. It was a drudge headline. Yeah, Zogby’s the man.
If the poll is high and “adoring” of zer0, then the mSM will trumpet it for days. If it reflects reality, then there is no mention. The idiot sheeple follow what they perceive to be the “in” thing.
Good morning TROLL. Now go away idiot sheeple, no one wants to hear from a dim bulb such as thstn.
I keep coming back to the acceptance speech in Denver in which he said (and I did not imagine this) that he would DEFEAT poverty, disease and climate change. There are only two resonable reactions, a clear headed person would say that he either thinks he is God or thinks his listeners are stupid enough to believe he is God since only an almighty being could accomplish this or someone who has fallen for the Obama as messiah garbage would expect him to do it posthaste, such things as these are either done speedily or not at all, a God does not require a long time to do his wonders. In either case anyone who heard this statement should be very displeased with the current situation.
I have mentioned this to some who have responded with the absurdly simplistic statement that all politicians make promises they don’t intend to keep. I don’t recall anyone else making promises so grandiose as these, they are simply beyone the norm. Lyndon Johnson thought he could defeat poverty but not even he would say he would defeat disease and climate change. If John McCain had made this absurd statment it would have been repeated endlessly for twenty years but since Obama said it it is as if it never happened.
I’m no expert, but I wonder whether Obama even cares about his polls. His dropping approval rating doesn’t seem to be slowing down his “change” legislation on a number of fronts. Perhaps he’s thinking that they will grant amnesty to the 20-million+ illegal aliens and have ACORN (with its billions in funding) sign up lots of voters for him and his party. If the Democrats change the electorate enough, the more traditional block of voters, though large, might be unable to prevail.
So mdmathis6 lies about a poll and I’m the troll? You don’t make a lot of sense.
I was mistaken and had cited some Fox Dynamics poll which tends to swing back and forth....so shame on me, I had not meant to lie!
