Palin's pick to replace Elton: Tim Grussendorf on the issues

Federal stimulus

Grussendorf said he agrees with some of Palin's concerns about accepting federal money that Alaska may not be able to sustain.

"I'm not interested in something that's going to grow government and then disappear," he said.

He said he's concerned about increasing the state's budget deficit in future years.

"We cannot continue to burn through our savings at the rate that we're seeing right now," he said.

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

Bringing more revenue to the state is more likely to come from drilling for oil in ANWR, rather than selling natural gas, Grussendorf said.

"Responsible development in ANWR, that's the big one," he said. "We've already got the infrastructure" to ship the oil, he said. "It's definitely faster than a gas pipeline."

Looks like Gov. Palin selected someone who will be good for Alaska. Unfortunately, the dems are more interested in getting someone who will be bad for Palin. That's why they are objecting to this pick.

Who is “Elton” and why is Grussendorf replacing him/her/it?

Who is Elton?

State Senator Kim Elton was the prime mover in keeping “troopergate” going. He was recently rewarded for his efforts by being named to the 0bama administration. Palin was required to pick a democrat to replace him. The dems gave her only one name, a Palin foe, for consideration. She asked for more names, they didn’t provide any, so she asked for any democrats who wanted to be considered to submit their qualifications. The dems are now opposing this selection, and will try to force Palin to select their one and only original choice. This could result in a real battle. In the mean time, the dems are short one voting member and that gives the repubs the majority in the state legislature.

Thanks.

Looks like the same old game. Bi-partisanship means the conservative should surrender.

He sounds like a good guy, and a Democrat I can actually respect. He will have a hard time getting the final approval though, since he is a guy with actual morals, the Dems will not like him

I’ve been watching Palin since around 94. I might not agree with everything she does, but I have learned that 99% of the time, she is doing the right thing for Alaska. She is one of the few politicals I would trust and thus give her the benefit of the doubt everytime. If all our public servants were of her caliber, this country would be a different place.

That I love. Exposing the rats for a bunch of “good-ol boys club” morons. Tactically speaking, this is a win-win for her. Very impressive.

He registered as a Pubbie once to run for an open seat.

Same story as when he was running as a Dem

Got his asx handed to him. In one word - Unelectable. Just what saraH wants.

Very clever of her, Tim was the assistant of the very powerful head of the apparition committee - nobody wants to cross the guy, so - saraH wins.....
