I would like to see the actual questons and the order in which they were read, rather than a summary of the results. To me, for example, out of wedlock births are morally acceptable if the alternative is abortion. Also, I suspect that many Catholics will accept abortion as morally justifiable in the event of rape, incest, or substantial risk of death to the mother (only the last counts for me). I also suspect that if asked “do you believe that abortion on demand for any reason or no reason at all is morally acceptable,” the answer among Catholics would be substantially different than what the the Gallup Poll reports.

What’s the punishment for apostasy?

The Lake of Fire, last time I looked.

Part of the liberal spin to soften things up for Obama at Notre Dame. "Hey, Catholics don't mind killing embryos any more than liberals, Protestants, and secular humanists."

The Pope has written that Marxism is incompatible with Catholicism. Marxism is about the collective and individuals are not important and are expendable in such a system. The end justifies the means....Marxists kill anyone who get in the way of their agenda....The State is the most important. Marxism also rewards immoral and unproductive behaviors and has always ended up with complete tyranny—no freedoms, such as religion, or to raise your own children. The society lives in fear and under slavery.

Christianity is all about the individual being the temple of God and every life is special (non-Christians also) and even the life in a mother’s womb. People have free will and the most freedom ever found in the history of any culture. Besides John Locke and Natural Law, Christianity was a major force in creating the US.

Christian theology can NOT be dumped if people want freedom. Not possible.

Unfortunately, most of today’s Catholics went through the Marxist government school system and then attended heavily Marxist colleges while reading Marxist newspapers and watching Marxist television and enjoying the movies and music of Marxist entertainers.

How does one hour per week in Church compete with that?

Given the political leanings of the average priest these days, it reinforces it.

Also plunking your tush in a pew every Sunday does not necessarily mean one is a good Catholic. I would rather see the poll ask about adherence to Church teaching as an overall gauge of just how Catholic someone is.

Some thoughts:

1. This is Gallup. Who doesn’t take Gallup’s political polls with a very large grain of salt? The same applies to their religious polls.
2. They don’t give the survey questions. I really wish I could see the wording, which Gallup admits can skew the results.
3. I don’t at all believe the results accurately reflect the views of orthodox observant Catholics. More of them in the mix would have tipped the poll right on its a...axis.
4. Sadly, whether any of us like admitting it, orthodox and observant Catholics are a minority in our own Church. God help us.

Remember too that Zogby told us that GW Bush was going to lose the 2000 election, the exit polls were way biased in Gore’s favor and the Gorons used those numbers to justify their claims that the election was stolen.

When you cook the books always remember to keep an honest account so you know just how much you stole.

I’m thinking this means that folks don’t know the difference between embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells.

That difference has been intentionally blurred.

Leftists always obfuscate their evil with blurring language.

Was there a distinction made between church-attending and non-attending Catholics? I doubt it.

In the polling, yes, in the headline and talking points, no.

Any Christian who believes in the Ten Commandments should be against abortion.

How many Catholics supported Obama’s stance on denying aid to babies that survive abortion and are born alive, living for hours gasping for breath in a utility closet? The man supports baby killing, not just abortion.

Too many people don't know about this. Whenever I've told people about Obama and the Born Alive Act, they deny that he would do such a thing. Voters are ignorant, and the media wants it that way.

To deny that he would do such a thing without even investigating it means they are burying their heads in the sand. They are willfully ignorant.

I’ve heard many “don’t be absurd” replies when I explain his stance on BAPA.

Outright Denial.

My brother is a Republican and voted for Bush. Last month I told him about Obama and the Born Alive Act, and he actually could not believe it. He doesn’t like Obama, but he still could not believe it.

My brother is not on the internet except to check his e-mail and forward jokes.

It’s my opinion that if the media had put this story on the front page day after day until the public was informed, Obama would have lost.

The media didn’t want this story on the front page because Obama would have looked like a monster.
