Obama nominee sees no "reason why sharia law would not be applied to govern a case in the United States"
SNIPPET: "Koh has called America's focus on the War on Terror "obsessive." In 2004, he listed countries that flagrantly disregard international law -- "most prominently, North Korea, Iraq, and our own country, the United States of America," which he branded "the axis of disobedience.[...]
Even though he's up for a State Department job, Koh is a key test case in the "judicial wars.""

All American women should start shopping for stylish burkas now before they are forced to take the ones that Dear Leader provides FOR them!
I hear that Stretch Pelousy already has one.
Get ready for a corrupting of the courts like you’ve never seen before. It’s gonna be a real judicial freak show.
“the axis of disobedience,”
Oh man.
This is bad.
I guess at that point, Shariah Law would, according to the Obama Justice Department, trump the US Constitution.
Heaven help us all.
Hey, this guy is Dean of Yale Law School! you cant get more qualified than that! amirite?
US laws and the Constitution have no meaning, no standing, and no relevance to this guy.
Incredible.
Yep, that makes him a pretty good fit for this current administration.
How many ACTUAL CONSTITUTIONAL Laws would Sharia Law violate? Let me count the ways...
This is beyond ridiculous. Between this nomination, and rumors of releasing the Gitmo terrorists here I don’t see how anyone could still think Obama was on our side either in the WOT in general, or even on any domestic policies.. How frustrating!
“How frustrating.” and may I add terrifying.

Thank you for the bump SuperLuminal.
"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding."

The idiocy is that Shariah law isn’t even good Islam.
Mohammed was trying to tell Muslims to obey the laws and customs of whatever society they are in. Hence, American Shariah would be democracy, free markets, English common law, wearing blue jeans and pullovers on Saturdays but pants and button-ups with a tie to work, etc.
But Islam has no self-limitation on repression, so the demon-possessed idiots who dominate Islam figure that Mohammed wrote about Shariah in the seventh century so he wants everyone to live like its the seventh century. And so that’s what “Shariah law” has become: a code for establishing the barbaric practices of 7th-century uneducated nomadic clans.
If we weren’t killing 1/3 our population through abortion, and raising another 1/3 outside marriages, they might actually be able to conceive of the notion that God wants them to live like us.
Thank you PJ for your post.
{:-)......I'll need to wait until later in the day (after some sleep) before I can make any reponse to this article without frothing at the mouth.
Completely understandable.
From "Obama: Man of the World", March 6, 2007:
I was a little Jakarta street kid, he said in a wide-ranging interview in his office (excerpts are on my blog, www.nytimes.com/ontheground). He once got in trouble for making faces during Koran study classes in his elementary school, but a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics and more likely to be aware of their nationalism if he once studied the Koran with them.Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (itll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.
