Bull. Coulter was never a "Hunter supporter", she merely praised him as a great conservative Congressman but did not think he was a viable Presidential candidate (the position of most of us took on FR). She WAS a committed Romney supporter, and endorsed Romney over EVERYONE ELSE who was a "major contender" for the nomination at the time, including bashing Fred Thompson and calling him a RINO, and that was before his campaign tanked. (As opposed to the freepers claiming she only backed Romney at the end to "stop McLame") She also indicated her second choice was Giuliani, and wrote an op-ed claiming Romney and Giuliani were better because they were "more conservative" than the region that elected them or something, whereas the other candidates were "less conservative" than the region that elected them.
The jury was out during the 2008 primaries of whether Romney had truly had a change of heart over abortion or whether he was just pandering to get votes, but now we have an answer. Romney is actively working to get the ultra pro-abortion Meg Whitman elected Governor of California. So much for his "pro-life conversion".
Coulter also laughably claimed both Hilderbeast and Hussein Obama would be "better" than a McCain presidency and argued that Hilderbeast (ACU rating 8%) was "more conservative" than McCain (ACU rating 82%) (I think she might be one of those conservatives who argued that abortion policy "wouldn't change" regardless of who is President, another claim that's been proven indisputably wrong as Obama has been working round the clock to overturn Bush era executive orders, issue his own executive orders promoting abortion on demand, and mandating federal funding for all kinds of abortion)
>> The one issue people will see their causes wither and die if they are successful in fragmenting the Republican party. They are defeating themselves. <<
Coulter's been wrong on far more than one issue (Remember saying Jews "need to be perfected" and made to convert to Christianity, and her claims that John Roberts would be "another Souter?), and it's about time she gets called out for it. She has no problem relentlessly smearing and crucifying other conservatives for allegedly supporting liberals, now the shoe is on the other foot.
Bottom line is that Coulter backed a RINO in the primary, and said if she didn't get her way in the primary she'd campaign for the socialist Democrat over the Republican ticket (but didn't have the guts to follow through with that).
I can't think of a single thing Coulter has done during her career that's directly advanced conservatism in America, but I can think of several times that she opened her mouth and it helped liberals get ahead. In other words, she damaging the very 'causes' she claims to be promoting. She's simply the Republican version of Michael Moore, and needs to be called out as such.
COULTER: "Actually, my favorite candidate is [Rep.] Duncan Hunter [R-CA], and he is magnificent. The problem is most people say, "Who's Duncan Hunter?" He's a genuine war hero. He has one son, I think, in Iraq, one in Afghanistan. He is good on every single issue. He has been out front on building a wall. He did build a wall at San Diego. He's very good on -- on the life issue. He's good on everything."
If you support "calling her out", I couldn't care less. It's childish, non-productive and thrills the Left, but have a great time.
I hate to burst your bubble, but Romney has also supported and been supporting conservative, pro-life candidates like Michelle Bachman.
