Urgent! Red Envelope Day (Tomorrow March 31 Send a Red Envelope to Obama in support of Pro-Life)
World Net Daily ^ | March 30, 2009

I'm here to plug one of those unique opportunities to make your voice heard - in conjunction with hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions, of others.

It's something you can only do tomorrow.

Hey, I know it's short notice.

But this is easy.

It's part of an under-the-radar movement that has been gaining steam for months.

Tomorrow, send a red envelope to Barack Obama.

His address is:

President Barack Obama The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W. Washington, D.C. 20500

You own his house, so you should know.

On the outside of the envelope, write: "This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception."

Next week, the White House is expected to receive hundreds of thousands of empty red envelopes, symbolizing the moral outrage of abortion. Maybe it will receive millions.

Can you imagine the impact?

I know there is no way we're going to change Obama's mind about abortion or the value and sanctity of human life.

But when he is surprised by this flood of red envelopes on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, it might make him think twice about his radical anti-life agenda and just how far he is willing to go promoting it with your tax dollars and under your authority.

And who knows? Maybe it might even do more.

"I wish we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died before having a chance to live," said Christ Otto, the grassroots organizer who came up with the idea. "Maybe it will change the heart of the president."

I'm not optimistic about that.

But what a statement it will make!

Do those 50 million aborted babies deserve any less consideration from us?

You know, I’m planning to do this. But I’m also confident that the White House won’t let the media anywhere near with a camera. And, even if they did, the MSM cameras will never show this.

In other news, the White House reported its paper recycle bins were overflowing with unopened red envelopes.

The red envelopes won’t make it to the White House.

They’re sent to a different _state_, where they will be opened, the envelope discarded, the contents tested for nasty stuff, and terse notes taken about the letters’ point.

THE ENVELOPES WILL NEVER GET ANYWHERE NEAR THE WHITE HOUSE.

THE ENVELOPES WILL NEVER GET ANYWHERE NEAR THE WHITE HOUSE.

That doesn't mean that they cannot have an impact.

Having all red-letter-senders jump up & down at the same time will also have an impact.

$50M would be far better spent funding a court case tearing down RvW by hammering the point that such “doctor/patient privacy matters” are made public by advertising heinous illegal services in the Yellow Pages.

Envelope-color gimmicks will get us nowhere, just as hundreds of other money-wasting gimmicks also got us nowhere. Would YOUR mind be changed if anti-life types sent 50M pink letters to YOU?

It must be horrible to go though life feeling so helpless and weak. Not knowing that even the smallest of our actions can and do have an impact on others for the better or for the worse.

A penny is just a penny and could not possibly have an impact on anyone, right? Yet thousands who have seen the Memorial to the Missing in Jackson, MS have changed their views on abortion. One penny is nothing, but 50 million pennies can have an impact, just like 50 million red envelopes could.

No, we are not going to change Obama's mind nor that of all the other rabid abortionists. We may only make an impact on a few hundred or possibly a few thousand people, but if we do nothing, we make no impact at all.

So lead follow or get out of the way, but do not preach on how what we are doing won't make a difference and do not presume that you voice is louder than ours.

Which will have a bigger impact:

$50,000,000 spent on sending envelopes to someone who doesn’t care, and won’t even see them because they just end up in a warehouse where they’ll be trashed?

- or -

$50,000,000 spent on a court case actually challenging RvW, ideally from the POV that openly advertising murder-for-hire is not shielded by “privacy”?

Just because something may have an impact does not mean it will have anywhere near the impact of an obvious alternative.
Just because you have an opinion doesn’t mean it’s viable.

I’ve seen this on too many issues: efforts to protect constitutional rights squandered by persuing meaningless, petty, expensive gimmicks. The RKBA movement wasted a couple decades with great sound and fury signifying nothing, when a [relatively] little well-spent money got us the _Heller_ verdict we needed so much. It’s not that I “feel so helpless and weak”, it’s that I know that doing something useful and effective is better than doing something cute and ignored. 100,000 people standing in front of the White House (total cost: about $50,000,000) would make a much bigger impact than mailing a lot of letters to the dump; $50,000,000 to a lawyer would get even more done.

Equal expenditure of time & money does not establish equal impact.

Or, to put it concisely per your snide conclusion:

Having gotten out of the way, I still have the right to opine that what you are doing won’t make a difference. That you retort “do not presume that your voice is louder than ours” in response to a single quiet comment belies fear that perhaps, indeed, my single quiet comment will in fact prove louder than your advocated gesture. Skittish, are you?

Exactly what case is this and where are we supposed to donate? I'm in, post the link!

Why not airdrop the red envelopes from a Cessna over the White House at low altitude? Make sure the Cessna is protected by a sniper who would incapacitate a FIM-92 Stinger-armed Secret Service agent.
