You know, I am a woman and I have pondered this very topic. Perhaps on;y men who pass a reading test and can show proper identifcation and be a taxpaying landowner should vote.

That would mean over 90% of our junior enlisted force would be banned from voting. Just how many troops do you think would be lining up to enlist knowing that they were not eligible to vote in the country they are required to pledge an oath of allegiance too? Unless landowners alone can man a standing Army I'd say this is a non-starter.
I certainly am for a literacy test for voting (exception for the legally blind). If you can’t read, you are not smart enough to vote. You can’t possibly have researched the life and death issues thoroughly enough. Just go learn to read, then register to vote.
