From the day the founding Fathers risked their liberty and life by signing the Declaration of Independence, there has been those who have wanted to sink this great ship called the United States of America. Well 143 years later the good ship America took a torpedo hit that at the time seemed like just another glancing blow. What many still consider the greatest step forward in equality for the sexes, was more then just a glancing blow however. It was in fact a deadly strike that entered the very heart of the ship and has been smoldering since. The damage caused by the 19th amendment was slow in its destruction, but after almost 100 years we can now see how complete the destruction really was.

"Perhaps on;y men who pass a reading test and can show proper identifcation and be a taxpaying landowner should vote."
That would mean over 90% of our junior enlisted force would be banned from voting. Just how many troops do you think would be lining up to enlist knowing that they were not eligible to vote in the country they are required to pledge an oath of allegiance too? Unless landowners alone can man a standing Army I'd say this is a non-starter.
What evidence. V’s wife.
I won’t argue your point at all.
And if you think about it, they have done the same to women. Women are promoted as nothing less than tramps today and they eagerly fill the roll.
Women's equality, Feh. Real women always knew they had the power to rule men. The fact is is that women are not brought up to realize their real potential by being a LADY with class and standards.
I’d gladly give up my right to vote if all women would do the same.
I no longer believe that there is any such thing as a postmenopausal woman.
Actually, I would say that you were exhibiting a greater emotional response by your interjections. Perhaps HollyB realizes there’s no point in arguing with someone that doesn’t want to engage in a honest dialectic.
When you boil it down, if it werent for that warm void in their nether regions, theyd be shooting them in the streets.
however...some men should not participate in the polity at all...
“What evidence?”
Just for starters, American voting statistics by gender over the past 40 years. Start there, and then get back to me and we’ll go for lesson number two.
*Except for those silly women
That's just flat out crazy. How can a country ask a man to fight and die defending it, yet deny him the right to vote because he's not a land owner?
I did not say that American authors wrote in a pro-male, anti-suffragist fashion. They wouldn’t have know what that was since they never knew anything else but that men had their sphere’s and women had seperate spheres.
Kindly recall that women DIED much, much more frequently back then thanks to childbirth, etc. So did men, and children also of course. But women were extremely busy with all that as it should be in my opinion. And yup, I’ve never even had a child.
Men, meanwhile, kindly invented washing machines, machines of all types freeing women from labor. They made advances in all that free time they had (I’m being sarcastic) which allowed everyone to live longer, women, men and children. And what have women done with their “advances” I ask you?
Darn little compared to what largely men have done through the centuries.
Women are (mostly, there are always a few exceptions) here to procreate, men are here for proving up, they get to work themselves to death and die in battles. That is the way I believe it is and no amount of fancy talk such as we do today in libraries full, is going to change it.
Guess I’m a knuckle-dragging woman eh?
That’s about as shallow a response as I’ve seen on this thread. Anytime you want to come back with something substantial and instructive, let me know.
Wow, so what you are saying is that because women don’t vote how you like, they should have their right to vote removed?
Women received the right to vote in 1920.
The great progressive era occurred after the election of 1912 when W. Wilson became president. We got the income tax,
the Federal Reserve System and so forth. All of those great things occurred before women could vote (Women could vote in some western states before 1920)
That’s a broad (no pun intended) statement. Umm, you show me the actual year over year facts to support YOUR argument, and I will get back to you! My take is: television and the media is the culprit that has effected both men and women. I know a lot of men who voted for Obama: what the heck, I live in New York State, everybody male and female voted for Obama, it seems. Your logic doesn’t hold up. Is it that the libs one because all the blue states have women in them and only men live in the red states? No. Blue state men voted for Obama and the like. Explain that.V’s wife.
“because women don’t vote how you like...”
Dear, you are on Free Republic. If you are here for the proper reasons, you should understand that there is huge significance to ‘voting how we like’. And the very core of the original post on this thread makes this very point, that women haven’t voted ‘the way we like’, which has resulted in a significant negative impact on our country.
LMAO......and she did it better than anyone else here and didn't even realize it....oh that is rich!
