From the day the founding Fathers risked their liberty and life by signing the Declaration of Independence, there has been those who have wanted to sink this great ship called the United States of America. Well 143 years later the good ship America took a torpedo hit that at the time seemed like just another glancing blow. What many still consider the greatest step forward in equality for the sexes, was more then just a glancing blow however. It was in fact a deadly strike that entered the very heart of the ship and has been smoldering since. The damage caused by the 19th amendment was slow in its destruction, but after almost 100 years we can now see how complete the destruction really was.

The way I've heard it, the women in America control 50% of the purse and 100% of the...oh you know what!
Phil Donaghue must have been born a woman then. I can think of a nice list of feely touchy men and straight forward, fact telling women. Generalizations such as these are absurd. Let me know if you’d like a list of men who shouldn’t be allowed to vote because of their emotional make-up.
Yep. I think. Indeeeedie. ;)
And tofu.
And granola.
And -- wait a minute, do ya cook granola...(thinking for a minute...).
Academics have long pondered why the government started growing precisely when it did. The federal government, aside from periods of wartime, consumed about 2 percent to 3 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) up until World War I. It was the first war that the government spending didnt go all the way back down to its pre-war levels, and then, in the 1920s, non-military federal spending began steadily climbing. President Franklin Delano Roosevelts New Deal often viewed as the genesis of big government really just continued an earlier trend. What changed before Roosevelt came to power that explains the growth of government? The answer is womens suffrage.
For decades, polls have shown that women as a group vote differently than men. Without the womens vote, Republicans would have swept every presidential race but one between 1968 and 2004.
The gender gap exists on various issues. The major one is the issue of smaller government and lower taxes, which is a much higher priority for men than for women. This is seen in divergent attitudes held by men and women on many separate issues. Women were much more opposed to the 1996 federal welfare reforms, which mandated time limits for receiving welfare and imposed some work requirements on welfare recipients. Women are also more supportive of Medicare, Social Security and educational expenditures.

Oh that is nonsense. I agree that the feminization in our culture is appalling, however it has a lot more to do with atheism, communism, and our lame education system then it does with anything else. Homeschooled or those educated in religion based schools are typically conservative, male of female.
Or do you want to say it’s television that’s doing it. Yeah, that’s it: it’s tv! If people didn’t watch tv and had to pick up a book and read, and process and think logically, they’d have the acumen to see through the specious arguments put forth as intelligent reasoning by the media hacks and the politicians they support.
So, no more tv! Hmmmmm? V’s wife.
yep, yep....sure is......
Geez, they can’t even be taught to leave the toilet seat up, and we give them a right to vote?
Ha ha! V’s wife.
Me thinks he’s NOT going to get it! ;-)
Sorry if this might get me booted off FreeRepublic, but what the f**k??
As far as property owners? . For most of the 19th century a married woman had no property rights. Even to what she brought as her own into the marriage.
And you might want to look into what many election days were like back then. Pretty rowdy, drunken events where I’m not sure how many of these voters were casting their ballot in the best state of mind.
Phil Donohue (and you are right he probably was born a woman) and all those she-males of today and even of 30 years ago, are all POST-feminization, having started with women voting among other things. THAT is the problem.
You didn’t have such namby pamby male sorts before say 1940 (that is a loose-date). Read some literature or diaries from men 100 or more years ago and you will see the difference. I read a lot of it and there was a great difference.
I’m not for Taliban nonsense but I do think women need to be put back some, they have gotten too much in control in the west.
I am going back over to the low on the hog thread! It’s an intelligent conversation and fun! V’s wife.
“Generalizations such as these are absurd.”
No they aren’t, many are right on the money, as is this one. I’m so sick of this liberal justification response, that just because you can come up with a few exceptions to the rule, that the rule doesn’t apply. Yeah, I know a Mexican gang member who seems like a good guy, so we shouldn’t make any “generalizations” about them (as they shoot up our neighborhood. Get a grip. You probably favor abortion too, using the argument that sometimes a rape results in a pregnancy.
Ummm, have you not read Mark Twain or Edgar Allen Poe, or Lincoln Steffens, or Walt Whitman? OK, you’re up. Name some names. V’s wife. (the aforementioned would be authors, fyi.)
Well, actually, truth be told....with the exceptional Sarah Palin, for instance, women HAVE screwn up politics!
I mean, really. Look at Botox Babs. No, never mind, don’t look at her. :)
Thank you raptor 29!
This feminism crap has been creeping into the western culture for over 100 years. I regularly read 1800’s novels and the feminism is there, very tactful and careful back then, but it was there. Heck, read Henry James’ “The Bostonians” - this to Holly B and V’s wife.
No, actually Holly is right, these are absurd and could not stand up to a good logical construct. Abortion is easily, as an argument, taken apart by same. The people positing attempts at reasoning here are laughable and ignoramuses. V’s wife.
It's a discussion....lighten up.
Conservatives, at least the ones who are confident in their beliefs and don't get their panties in a twist at the first sign of opposition, actually have the ability to analyze and debate pros and cons of issues....those who cannot imagine or process critical thinking resort to labels, such as "knuckledragger".
