One day of violence in Mexico leaves 15 dead

AT least 15 people have been killed in the past 24 hours in northern Chihuahua state, local officials said, hours after US President Barack Obama said violence in Mexico has "gotten out of hand".

The bodies of five men were found on Saturday in an irrigation ditch outside of Rosales, in the central part of the state, the local prosecutor's office said, adding that the bodies were apparently dumped from a pick-up truck.

In Chihuahua capital, another four bodies were dumped by gunmen from a car near a petrol station, the office added.

Late Saturday, three people were murdered in Chihuahua city, one in Cuauhtemoc and another in Ciudad Juarez, the Mexican city considered ground zero for drug-related violence across the border from El Paso, Texas.

In Camargo, a waitress was shot to death by gunmen who strafed a local bar with automatic weapons, the prosecutor's office said.

Bordering the US, Chihuahua is the prime battleground of the Juarez and Sinaloa drug cartels' war for control of the lucrative drug smuggling routes into the US.

Last year, Chihuahua state accounted for some 2,400 murders out of 5,300 nationwide attributed to drug violence, despite the presence of some 8,500 troops in the state sent by President Ernesto Calderon to stem the bloodshed.

Since taking power in 2006, Calderon has boosted local police forces with 36,000 troops around the country in a desperate bid to halt the escalating violence, which Obama yesterday said had “gotten out of hand” and become a serious threat to US border communities.

In a television interview, Obama admitted that part of the violence was fuelled by the demand for drugs and availability of weapons in the US, adding: “We've got to do our part in reducing the flow of cash and guns south.”

The violence in Iraq pales in comparison to that on our southern border. But of course Jorge Boosh, Juan McRINO, and now Osama choose to ignore or downplay this. We ignore it at our own peril.

Coming to a Southern U.S. border neighborhood near you... I am sad to say.

I cannot imagine this problem staying south of the border, it is only a matter of time before we see it here. The only remaining question is how long will the LeftStream media try to ignore the problem when it does arrive.

The over / under is 18 months. Takers?

“One day of violence in Mexico leaves 15 dead”

Why the drug war now? What happened - who left to create the vacuum?

The only way to stop this is to ban all law abiding Americans from owning guns, /s

I happen to work on parts that go on AC-130 gunships. All you need to do is blow off those 20mm automatic water cooled weapons and the 150mm Howitzer.

You don't want to hear it or be close to it.

On average, one person is kidnapped in Phoenix every day. If there is going to be a Mexican Civil War, then by definition there will also be an American Civil War. It will start in the Southwest along the border states.
