I might as well butt in here :-)
Our neighbors down the street are Mormons. Their son is part of the ‘gang’ my son hangs around with. Normal 17/18 year old boys, go to school, work, athletics, babes etc.
Mormon Friend (I do not want to use his name) is the one kid in the group that does have a measurable amount of common sense. He is an honor student, an Eagle Scout and an exceptional athlete. He is very goal oriented. I credit it to the Family Values I have seen in his family during these past 10 years. They do not preach family values, they live it.
I have never understood the negative emotions regarding Mormons.
Just wanted to add my 2 cents.
Well, first off, they think you belong in hell because you do not worship some 18th century fellow who dug up some dinnerware.
I'm sure it was very nice dinnerware but hardly equal to Jesus.
Mormons can be the best people.
The problem comes when they advertise themselves as a Christian denomination. They have very different ideas about the nature of God, Jesus Christ, and eternity. Their ideas are completely foreign to Christianity.
I do respect Mormonism for the devotion of its adherants and the exemplary behavior of its people. I wish they could just go and be Mormons. Muslims don’t buy commercial airspace and advertize themselves as Christian. If they did, there would be hell to pay!
They also are committing suicide because perfection is not possible.
Mormon culture is just as unforgiving to the imperfect as the Japanese.
It destroys one's soul, because impefection leads not only to misery on earth, but in the eternities as well. It kills all hope.
That's becuase you've missed the point.
It's not MORMONs we are against: but MORMONism that is so false and anti-Christian.
