I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.
I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.
If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.
And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

This made me wonder what the Jehovah’s Witnesses might be plotting against us!
FR has all kinds... anti women, anti Mormom, anti this, that, etc. Like any other forum on the internet, there will always be the malcontents. I honestly think Jim needs to build in an ‘ignore’ feature so registered freepers can put other freepers and their posts on ignore.

With due respect to, and acknowledgement of, the fact that these statements may comprise, and be accurately reflective of your considered opinion (which you absolutely have a right to arrive at, and hold)...
I believe that “lying and misleading” is a mischaracterization of someone else’s remarks, and that writing “you know...” and “posted here just to pi$$ people off...” are volatile and unfortunate statements which place you in the position of what moderators often refer to as “mind-reading”: in effect, you are claiming that you are able to infer or divine the unstated motives of others for their posts.
I have not been involved in those same threads, but I have been involved in threads which may meet the definition of being similar, in that they represent a spirited discussion among mormons and Christian anti-mormonISM factions.
A great deal of latitude is given in “open” threads like that, but two types of disruptors are specifically discouraged or not allowed.
1} Those who are too thin-skinned to effectively and civilly deal with the almost free-for-all nature of the debate wherein anyone’s beliefs may be challenged in rough terms, and
2} those who cannot engage themselves without making it personal...that is, to either level criticism at individuals, or to impute certain beliefs to them in particular, or to “mind-read” by claiming to know what they are thinking, meaning, or inferring - without respect to such a conclusion not being readily apparent in the body of their posts
In my opinion, based upon my reading of your post # 46, (which I excerpted portions of) you appear to currently fit into both of the aforementioned types.
I do not know, and will not guess at your motives for this. I am not your enemy; I am calling your attention to how something appears to me. You are free to correct my impressions if I misunderstand.

You have to understand that the concepts of culling and shunning apostates and unbelievers is a deeply ingrained part of day-to-day Mormonism. Look up “Blood Atonement” and you will see its roots. I live in heavily Mormon Las Vegas and see this all the time in business and politics.
