“That woman” was badly burned from that coffee and suffered a lot of pain. Someone wrote about that once and it wasn’t just a crazy old lady who should have read the label.
Yes, because she didn't quite grasp the fact that coffee is hot and can burn you if you spill it on yourself.
I know that is a lot to take in at one time, but still...
I used to work at a McDonalds and was still in touch with co-workers after we quit. As one of them pointed out, most of the people who bought McD’s coffee did so BECAUSE it was so hot.
They knew it and they liked it that way; that’s why they bought it.
That said, putting a hot cup of coffee between your legs to hold it was not the brightest idea going, even if the coffee wasn’t so hot. She would have gotten burned by any coffee hot enough to drink until it was too cool to be palatable. She spilled it on herself. IMO, she should not have gotten a settlement.
