New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

Don’t like what the scriptures and the Lord say?

The Lord said search the scriptures

John 5: 39
39 ¶ Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Acts 17: 11
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,

and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so

That is not a denomination!

What denomination was Yeshua, and His followers?

Jesus was Jewish. His followers started out that way too, then they became followers of the ONE (Jesus) and had no denomination.

Although, I have heard LDS say Jesus and His followers were “Mormons” even if they did not call it that.

I once got in trouble (just a talking to) in Relief Society for reminding the RS pres that Jesus was a PRACTICING Jew. Go figure.

Still not responsive. Afraid of a simple “yes” or “no”?

Tangent here: McCarthy was right about so much. The left has demonized McCarthy but he was calling out Communist in the government.

I think I am going to start a new term. How about Emmaunalism. No that is too close to one of the names of our Savior. How about Rahmism.

Judgement for P-Marlowe. Rusty, escort Mr. fproy2222 outside and help him find his wallet.

Thank you Sky.

BTW, It looks as if JR or the Mods have escorted fproy222 outside.

But I think he absconded with his wallet.

I’ve been more critical of the Methodist church. Are they going to be coming after me also?

Our resident FR Methodist pastor is a Neener and Neeners are prohibited by our loose bylaws from keeping lists or being listed.

If he were to start a list, then he would have to be blacklisted, but then we don't know who we blacklisted because we don't have lists.

We are, by and large, a listless group.

My question is, if it is so important now to be seen as Christian, why was there not a revelation (or even a manifesto) from the Prophet in SLC to that effect? I would think that something as huge as the very reason for the founding of the LDS church being cast aside should come directly from the lips of the Prophet as a command from God. That it hasn’t is, IMO an indication that perhaps the LDS church doesn’t intend to become Christian, but to bring the Christian under the LDS law of consecration:

You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the law of consecration as contained in this, the book of Doctrine and Covenants [he displays the book], in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion.”

Excellent question!

My issues with Mormonism come up when they try to pass themselves off as just another Christian denomination, when they are really an offshoot diversion/corruption.

Well said. BTW, did you know your name is on “the list” also? Not sure if i pinged you or not.

Excuse me a denomination is Catholic, presbyterian, Baptist, etc.

People who believe is Jesus is Christian but not all have the same doctrine therefore they are different denominations.

Just because the LDS doctrine is different they still believe in Jesus Christ so no matter how much any here try to say the LDS are not they are just by the defenition!

Not if someone has polluted them with fraudulent gospels and fake writings passed off as real.

It is like taking the two pipes of PURE WATER and putting just a cup of sewage in them, they pollute the whole thing.

That is why the early Christians were adamant about keeping the Scriptures pure and undefiled by johney-come-lately frauds.

It was not an urban legend in my Relief Society, resty. I was appalled when I heard it.

There are MANY things that the LDS rank and file say/believe that the hierarchy SAYS is not “official” doctrine. I call it “lay theology”.

Of course, sometimes getting the LDS to admit what is and is not “official doctrine” is like nailing jello to the wall.

I have. Why are you so afraid to answer a simple question with a yes or a no? Here, let me help:

“God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted Man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret... It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God and to know...that he was once a man like us. Here, then, is eternal life—to know that only wise and true God, and you have got to learn how to become Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you. .. God himself, the father of us all dwelt on an earth the same as Jesus Christ.”
- The Prophet Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 342-345, also quoted heavily by the church, see Gospel Principles, Chapter 47.

More help:

“The doctrine that God was once a man and has progressed to become a God is unique to this church.”
