New Mormon anti-freeper site and campaign to bankrupt FR
rumor mill | March 29, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/29/2009 2:35:03 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.

I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.

If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.

And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

God bless.

Hey - he’s a Christian brother, AND a US Marine (whether he is active or not, Marines all say “there is no such critter as an “ex-marine”, unless they themselves CALL one an “ex”...like Murtha for example) so how could I do other than have his back? That’s just NOT gonna happen.

FWIW, my “jack-mormon” father-in-law (a great guy, and a real character, who likes his black coffee...) was in the Corps back in the 50s, and so now is the eldest mormon son of my wife’s eldest brother a Marine.

Requires? None that I'm aware of.

So why were you crawling if not required?

Just naturally weak and subservient?

Why not just stride straight in?

Odd question for someone with "humble" in his name.

Isn't it?

I note you have yet to answer it.

You may want to visit http://www.irr.org/mit/ before you go near a mormon church...

Thanks for the kind words. I have enjoyed our conversations.

Unfortunately, I must turn my attention to making a living. I intend to continue lurking but not posting for the next few months.

Good luck to you all.

I’ve been more critical of the Methodist church. Are they going to be coming after me also?

Just be very careful what you say about the Amish, you don't wanna get on their wrong side.

I’m a devout evangelical Christian.

I just think my husband’s family history behind the Mormon church is interesting.

“...the complete idiocy of your fascist posting.”

I haven’t been called “fascist” since my college days, if my memory serves me.

I was called a fascist (ONE of the times I was called a fascist) for defending marriage. You know, the institution involving a MAN and a WOMAN?

Being called a fascist on FR is new for me.

The extreme left AND the extreme right think me a fascist.

Hmmmmm....

I must be doing something right.

I appreciate your having confirmed what I had found through my own investigation(s).

I dated a girl back about eight or nine years ago who was a “jill” mormon. I’ll call her “Liz” - not even remotely her name

“Liz” did not go to Sunday services, other than Christmas and Easter, but did wear her temple garments whenever she wanted to...or not...including many times when they would be thrown aside, so that we as a dating couple, could “give in to the moment”.

She never went in to the Bishop or Elders and confessed, so consequently, she was never excommunicated, and never turned in those garments - not to my knowledge, anyway.

She was attached to her mormon faith - but not too attached.

“Liz” had gone through all of the various “secret/sacred” ceremonies that an LDS woman is eligible for, except a celestial marriage sealing, but she knew about every detail of what was involved in those, having wormed the specifics out of a girlfriend of hers who was so married and sealed in late ‘99 or early 2000!

And so, she willingly shared all she knew with me - I think other than the excessive restrictions on personal behaviour (no coffee or tea, no caffeinated cold beverages, no alcohol, etc...), she also found room to disagree with the overboard sense of secrecy, and basically disregarded those teachings.

LOL! Where would we be if it were not for women, their desire to gossip, and their inability to keep secrets?!

You are a liar. You can 't answer the questions because you are being a deceptive liar about your church's teachings and you don't want to admit the truth of what Joseph Smith taught.

Judgement for P-Marlowe. Rusty, escort Mr. fproy2222 outside and help him find his wallet.

“I guess I have a stalker.”

Looks like you do, indeed. And what a sad thing when a poster from one board goes in search of something elsewhere to use against another (assuming that was the reason for lack of anything else to believe) because it makes the entire site (FR) look bad. I’m sorry you even posted that crap, Restornu, and wish you would have kept it to yourself. There are some things better left unsaid.

Nothing personal, Restornu, but that is wrong. If I were to find your screen name on some other board, I would never presume that it were you. That is ridiculous and should be considered beyond the pale to use against another. Do you not see anything wrong in trying find something somewhere else to use against a fellow FReeper?

I never signed onto the CP site but, who knows, since I’m a redhead perhaps it was me and not CC. Makes about as much sense as your other conclusion.

As FReepers, we may disagree, but there’s at least some semblance of comradeship even during heated debates.

ColorCountry deserves an apology. I hope you’re mature enough to grant it.

Best Regards,

BR

You are about as insightful as an ant.

Your postings are those of an arrogant fascist in that you call for the limitation of religious discussion. Only a totalitarian of the left or right would call for that.

Your words bozo:

First, for the record, I waved goodbye to organized religion a while ago...I have read through the Mormon devotionals quite a few times and frankly, as an ex-Christian, I saw much that could be filed under “holier than thou”... I think all religious posts should be disallowed, or given defined sections of FR within which to post away from the main public traffic.

Yes you are now on the Methodist “hit list” and I should know I am a Methodist.

Of course I and probably half the Methodists south of the Mason Dixon line are on it as well so you are in good company...

I am what is described as an ‘active Mormon’. Have been all my life.

If some Mormons are against FreeRepublic than they are not very conservative or have thin skins regarding the post discussing the LDS church.

I guess I just have to increase my donation to FR.

***I think his dad was raised in the Mormon church, but became an atheist.***

I was watching LARRY KING LIVE many years ago in the early 1990s or late 1980s, when Madaline Murray O’Hair was the guest(before she took a dirt nap).

She make the claim that....”The best atheists are former Mormons and Catholics.”

I have been called out by Mormons on this thread about this, but I watched the program and still remember what was said.
