The president has been asking for it. Today House Republicans responded, offering a budget alternative that met with instant ridicule from the White House.
"It took me several minutes to read it," Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in his daily news briefing at the White House.
The punch line came in response to a question noting that the GOP alternative spending proposal "doesn't actually contain any numbers."
"I think the party of 'no' has become the party of 'no new ideas,'" Gibbs continued. "The rhetoric inside the budget seems to be a road map for the failed policies that got us into this mess -- to extend trillions and trillions of dollars of tax cuts for the wealthy, continued subsidies for big oil. And I think it's -- it takes us back to where we've been and why we're in this problem."
President Obama argues that his $3.6 trillion proposal is "inseparable" from the country's economic recovery. He says the money it allocates to broaden access to health care, sponsor research on renewable energy, and improve public education is the best way to ensure long-term growth in a hyper-competitive global economy. It would cut the deficit in half by the end of Obama's first term, but it would also force the country to borrow nearly $9.3 trillion over 10 years.

Gee, I haven't heard those cliches in at LEAST twenty minutes.
Numnutz Gibbs didn’t listen when they said that the details are coming out next week.
That’s okay. 0’s policies are going to get us into a much bigger mess, and the people who come after him won’t have to lie about him being to blame. His name will be dirt for many generations to come.
The Republicans should publish their budget, along with a critique of the 0 insanity. Let the American people know what they have bought into.
“...”It took me several minutes to read it,” ...”
Wow. First Obamaloon Loon-O-Tic to read ANY budget.
Gibbs is an absolute horses ass.
We deserve a chewier kind of stew meat from the Press Sec’y.. He’s way above his paygrade
LOL Gibbs is an idiot, its Obama’s Budget that is the historical mess.
Most people budget for the things they want by saving money first. Only idiots buy things they cannot afford with borrowed money that they have to pay interest on.
I think Obama could use a little budget counseling.... before he bankrupts out country and destroys it.
Glad Ohbummer is showing that bipartisanship he claimed he would have. The Rebs need to bring a more Conservative proposal next time.
Pray for America, Our Troops and obama’s Continued Failure
Um, most people *do* buy stuff with borrowed money they have to pay interest on. You know, stuff like cars, houses, college educations . . .
The problem with Obama's budget is that it does contain numbers. All of them have at least three too many zeros after them.

I have no idea how the phone number got in there!!! See correction...sorry
ROFLOL, You have made the top ten!!!!
LOL!!!!!
If that were true, you would be cooking over a camp fire and living in a cave.
By the way, you might of guessed it, they want the price of gas to be $10 a gallon, so no one can afford it. These demowits were envious at the profits the oil and gas industry made in the last 5 years. The difference is that we plowed those profits back into the ground to find more oil and gas to offset imports. I don’t believe that the demos will put one dollar back into the ground. They will steal all of the profits in the form of taxes, apply it to alternative energy which will not be effective for 50 years, and then, when they jack the price up to $10 a gallon, they will nationalize oil. It should be easy because they will have driven down the value of the oil and gas industry to zero. In the mean time, I suggest that anyone looking for a good investment should invest in blankets, bicycles and candles.
GOP gloves off for budget brawl
