Palin's prayer remark angers former staffers (McCain staffers after her yet again)

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Some of Sarah Palin's former campaign aides are frustrated with the Alaska governor for remarking in a lengthy, freewheeling speech that she had refused to pray with them before last October's vice presidential debate.

Palin told the story in a speech to a GOP dinner in Alaska last Friday.

"So I'm looking around for somebody to pray with, I just need maybe a little help, maybe a little extra," she said of the moments before the debate. "And the McCain campaign, love 'em, you know, they're a lot of people around me, but nobody I could find that I wanted to hold hands with and pray."

As the audience laughed, Palin noted that she meant no disrespect to the McCain campaign and that ended up saying a prayer with her daughter Piper.

A handful of the McCain campaign staffers who traveled with Palin nearly every day for two months caught wind of Palin's remarks on Thursday morning — and they aren't thrilled with her quip.

"We all talked this A.M.," said one former Palin aide in an e-mail. "This set off a nerve for sure with a lot of people."

"It's yet another example of the few staff still loyal to Palin questioning their loyalty and ardent defense of her over the several months since the campaign," said the aide, who was granted anonymity to speak candidly about campaign colleagues.

>>The sad part is that so many on here wasted their votes on McCain in the last election.

What a bunch of whiny losers....McCain and his staffers<<

I’m not sorry I voted for McCain - my other choices would have given Obama a larger margin of victory and thus more of a claim of a mandate.

I am sorry I didn’t have a better Republican nominee.

Crappy was the way the McCain campaign treated her.

Agreed, but I’m still thinking that is not what she meant to say.

But that is a pretty crappy thing for Palin to say.

Truth sometimes hurts. Something liberals don’t comprehend.

Huh? Does this mean that there are some campaign staffers who remained loyal to Sarah Palin, after the campaign? If so, why did we not hear a peep from them when the MSM and 'anonymous McCain campaign staffers' savaged her in the weeks after the election, and continue to do so?

Right, exactly how many are in this group of loyal supporters? I haven’t seen anyone from the McCain campaign who has come out publicly with anything resembling loyal support. All we have heard about is the nameless ones who were knifing Gov. Palin in the back even before the election, and none of the so-called loyal staffers spoke up then. Now they are PO’d, too bad.

Lol!! You don’t think that our legendarily accurate, factual, determined to print the truth and only the truth press, could have possibly misreported her quote do you?!?!

I am SHOCKED!
Shocked, I tell you!

Is there anybody out there who thinks there’s a “market” for former McCain staffers?

“What REALLY happened between Palin and the McCain staffers?”

My best guess is you had a bunch of young A-Type career politic types who definitely were not accustomed to hanging with a woman from Alaska along with her large family.

I’m sure they were surprised with the amount of work it takes to travel like that - work they probably wouldn’t have put in with another candidate.

Might be a crappy thing to say but I guess she's honest. Or that is the way I read it, ......

[ nobody I could find that I wanted to hold hands with and pray.”]

Sounds like she didn't see anyone around she either liked enough or wanted to be in pray with......... Her choice as I see it.

All of these catty, power crazy McCain staffers would be running the government now if he won.

We weren’t given much choice last November, were we?

I don’t disagree with that. People say things at times when the best course is to keep one’s mouth shut.

Yeah, I think Sarah was simply pointing out the enormous challenges she faced working with the McCain staffers. She wanted someone to pray with but simply could not find a kindred spirit amongst all the staff.

Many of these staffers did everything they could to undermine her at each step and bit by bit she’s revealing info on some of the hostilities she faced. She and those career politicos working for McCain had zero chance of getting along.
