I'm of two minds about this particular piece of the GIVE Act.

“and conservative Republican Orrin Hatch of Utah”
WHY would a single Republican support Obama’s totalitarian brigades? Don’t they have a clue what they are voting for?

Senators moved Wednesday toward creation of a Veterans Corps of up to 5,000 paid volunteers to work on aid programs...What exactly is a "paid volunteer"?

So the bureaucrats, afraid to hire MORE bureaucrats, to actually DO the work they're already being paid to do....are going to call them a CORPS?!! somebody needs to put this suffering beast out of its misery.

This is just a ploy to get acceptance by the conservatives that teleprompter-boy doesn’t think are smart enough to notice it as a socialist project.

I’m from Utah. He makes a huge deal of being friends with the Democrats. Tries to upstage McCain in that regard. Has a special soft spot for Kennedy and any legislation proposed by him.

Oh, lovely, another reach-across-the-aisle RINO. The GOP really needs to clean house!

'I'm of two minds about this particular piece of the GIVE Act.'I'm not. I don't care if my DD-214's say I was discharged 25 years or 25 days ago. I'll be gaddamned if I'm 'volunteering' to be a Gruppenführer in any korps this demi-Nazi is trying to hitch to his false illusion of Amerikan 'patriotism'. F*ck him and his Volks Korps.

“5,000 paid volunteers”
Volunteers get paid? Where do I apply for my back wages? I’ve volunteered since high school.

This Veteran’s Corps sounds like Mugabe’s land siezure thugs in Zimbawe. This scheme does not respect or benefit our veterans.

The Clean Energy Corps could employ the chronically unemployed and illegals awaiting deportation in crews peddling rows of stationary bicycles with generators producing emission-free electric power.

Part of his last campaign advertisement material included a CD of him singing songs he had composed.
I’m waiting for his Ode to Ted

What I meant was that it seems to help some returning vets. I’d never do it because the price is too high and there are almost assuredly all kinds of strings attached.

I never get past the ‘paid volunteer’ part. No wonder so many young people sit around refusing to do anything until they hear what’s in it for them.

If they’re eating beans and frijoles, I doubt if it’d be anywhere near “emmission-free” don’t you think?

Agreed! As much as I love vets (being one myself, and my oldest son as well)I utterly refuse to endorse or support ANY effort Der Fuhrer proposes.
I have no words for the disgust I feel whenever Zero opens his stinking mouth!

Maybe a process could be found to collect this gas and use it as a fuel.

C'mon, dog. Do you really think there's anything intrinsically valuable - or even above the board - in the bone they're trying to throw veterans (returning or not)? They just tried to make Purple Heart recipients pay for their own care and rehab, for God's sake. The whole thing is a MacGuffin to advance their own agenda. The price of that 'help' you refer to would make Shylock go after the lot of them with a street-sweeper. At least Bill Clinton tried to act the part. These sub-simians are so full of hubris, they just throw it out there as an act of social fiat.

More government "make work" jobs. WPA-2009. Money confiscated from the taxpayers that forces private employers to lay off employees and the government to pick them up. The difference is the government jobs are all labor expense. They produce nothing.
