Yes, a lot of people here screamed bloody murder. There’s a lot of class envy right here. It’s not just liberals who are afflicted.

I suspect this man lives in Greenwich and he and/or his co-workers were visited by the welfare thugs from Bridgeport over the weekend - government orchestrated harassment and threats. No wonder the guy is quitting.

“But you also are aware that most of the employees of your financial products unit had nothing to do with the large losses. And I am disappointed and frustrated over your lack of support for us. I and many others in the unit feel betrayed that you failed to stand up for us in the face of untrue and unfair accusations from certain members of Congress last Wednesday and from the press over our retention payments, and that you didn’t defend us against the baseless and reckless comments made by the attorneys general of New York and Connecticut. “

In Saturday’s Wall Street Journal, they calculated that if you live in New York City and this idiotic law passes, your tax rate on bonuses would be 102.5%.

There is another locked thread on this same topic that, among other things, discussed the source of the information on the addresses of the executives so they could be targeted by demonstrators. According to the Glenn Beck program, the tour buses that were taking the demonstrators around were from ACORN. ACORN and a riled up mob are integral tools of leftists in their attempt to stamped the country into a socialist workers paradise.

Yes, they did. This is why the bonus debacle is a non issue to me. These people earned those bonuses.

The contract was agreed to before the bailout even happened.

What a shame.

Well, the goal of the NYT has always been to “make us more like Europe”. Seems to have worked...

"De Oppresso Liber" -- To Liberate the Oppressed

I did not know the motto, but there are a lot of us that are with you. And will choose to defend the Nation to our last breath.

What is coming is going to be very ugly!

GOP=pussy.

Backing down to Fwank, Cuomo, Obama.

Where’s Mr. Conservative, Mitt Romney, who made his money in investments? Nada, zip, zero.

Where’ Old Saigon Bomber McCain of the Straight Talk Express?

Where’s ex Fattie, Huck?

Maybe these people weren't so bright after all. Who would work for no salary but a lump sum at a future date in a company that is $100B+ in the hole going down in flames?

A lesson for any employees at a company that seeks a bailout in the future: if you don't like your board of directors driving your company in the ditch and all, wait until your new board of directors takes over: 500+ clowns in Washington plus a few rabid Attorneys General

Just let it go kaput and leave the market to the competitors and avoid this circus of incompetents.

Liddy should also resign. There is no honor in serving Congressional masters who caused much of this disaster and are demagoging the mob to harass the AIG employees.

DeSantis will also need to be prepared for a full on attempt to destroy himself and his family. IRS audits, investigations by Democrat public operatives, investigations by third parties of he, his wife and his children. Attempts to intimidate each of them personally and make sure that they cannot live normal lives, etc. His was a brave statement. I hope it is widely publicized and rallies some opposition for tactics that would be more typical of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

You are right. Not a single Republican uttered a word. If these Republicans think they have 2010 or 2012 wrapped up, they have another thing coming.

After thinking about this some more, my only critique for Mr. DeSantis is that he had nothing to say about his President. Maybe that would have been expecting too much in these politically correct times.

Like you, I was asked to work for an annual salary of $1, and I agreed out of a sense of duty to the company and to the public officials who have come to its aid. Having now been let down by both, I can no longer justify spending 10, 12, 14 hours a day away from my family for the benefit of those who have let me down.

Don’t cry for me AIG.

Hell if he can afford to work for one buck a year, whats he complaining about? Certainly not the retention pay right? Either work for a dollar a year or shut up. Don’t say your working for a dollar a year and then complain you ain’t getting retention pay.

That "the boss," Liddy, is a two-faced schmuck. DeSantis is not returning the money to AIG. He's taking the retention pay that he was promised, and he's quitting.

You guys miss the point...AIG is insolvent...living on taxpayer dime. Liddy should never have promised bonuses using taxpayer money. It’s just plain wrong. You can not reward an employee based on how he/she is doing in one division or whatever if the company is failing...this is what got Wall Street in trouble in the first place. Plenty of failing companies shelled out big bucks in salaries and bonuses;many went under (Lehman) or were bought out (Wachovia, Bear ) leaving the stockholders to pay the price. You can not divorce compensation from how a company is doing...the whole company not just one unit or division.

I realize that AIG is insolvent.
Was Liddy responsible for the retention bonuses?
