One man was killed and another seriously wounded in a shootout inside a Miami Burger King on Tuesday, officials said.
Police said a man wearing a ski mask walked into the store at Biscayne Boulevard and 54th Street and demanded money from a clerk.
A customer, who has a concealed weapons permit, pulled a gun, said Officer Jeff Giordano, a Miami police spokesman.
The customer and robber exchanged fire.
The robber was shot dead at the scene.
The customer, who had several gunshot wounds, was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in serious but stable condition, said Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a Miami Fire Rescue spokesman.
At about 4 p.m., officials got several 911 calls reporting people shot inside the Burger King.
May God hold you in the palm of his hand, dear citizen hero, and return you to full health soon.
I wonder if Burger King will make much of an effort to help the good Samaritan who was shot?
I doubt it.
Wanna bet the media spins this; if only that customer hadn't been issued a CCW, and wasn't allowed to own a gun, this shooting wouldn't have happened and no one would be dead.
54th street and Biscayne blvd !! Nice area (sarc)
Do you get free fries with one dead robber? How about a free apple pie?
Depends on how tight your group is.
A group inside 3” gets you a Double Whopper.
Good thing the thug is dead, too bad that the good guy took some bullets.
These thugs have to be morons. Risking one’s life to rob a BK ? Dumb.
There was a bank robber from 80-100 years ago who was asked why he robbed banks: Reply, “Because that’s where the money’s at.” It at least makes sense. The money isn’t at the local BK.
Willie Sutton...I do think thats who made the statement.
The man of a thousand faces there is a famous story about the man who fingered him and the Mad Hatter.
“Hands in the air!”
The Burger King customer smiled as he turned around to face the gunman. “Have it your way”, he said, drawing his revolver.
A moment later, the blood-soaked robber lay silent on the floor.
I’m sure the Miami papers will run a follow-up story...
...about how the robber was a former honor student down on his luck.
...and about how the hero is some sort of “gun nut” with a Rambo fetish.
And I’m guessing Burger King will be sending the hero a half-pound double-meat lawsuit for shooting up their store and getting someone killed.
And the crook’s family will sue the hero for “wrongful death” and reckless endangerment, emotional suffering, etc.
And, of course, if the robber was a minority and the hero is white, the Civil Rights crowd will show up and demand he be prosecuted.
Preventing crime doesn’t pay.

Great crime story about Mr. Sutton
Thank you
This may not mean a damned thing to Burger King, but if BK does anything other than hold this guy up as a hero then I will hold my own “TEA Party” and never spend another dime in their restaurants again.
If I were the store manager, this Samaritan would eat at my restaurant free for life.

*Oakland shooter unable to escape cycle of violence*

The shooter will probably be an obese youth who ate too often at McDonalds and was tired of being fat.
Crime cannot be prevented in the sense most think, it can only be dealt with and made to be not worth it.
Think sheep, wolves and sheepdogs-the sheep plead for the wolves to stop, the wolves lick their chops (lamb chops?) and do what wolves do.
Enter the sheepdog-protects the sheep against themselves and the wolves, is hated by both and is the savior of one and nemesis of the other, remove enough sheepdogs from the fields, and all you get is wolves, emboldened by free meat, and terrified sheep-who often think of sheepdogs as wolves (because they have teeth made for fighting as well).
Sheepdogs are not all that different from sheep, just not willing to be free meat, nor allow those sheep (unable to protect themselves) that they love to be supper for the wolves.
Sheepdogs are not all that different from wolves, they indeed have teeth and the ability to wield them with terrible results.
The difference lies in the motivations the sheepdog has vice that of the wolves.
Be a sheepdog, or else be a sheep, but let me tell you, it ain't worth being a wolf.
Some will tell us to help the wolves understand why they are wolves, and help the sheep be understanding of the wolves (something went wrong somewhere, they are not at fault...) I tell you to be sheepdogs, accept the sheep and the wolves, deal with them as they should be dealt with.
Former professional now private sheepdog.
