Today, the President invited everyone to use a new feature on WhiteHouse.gov called "Open for Questions" to ask a question about the economy and rate other questions up or down. Then, on Thursday morning, the President will conduct a special online town hall on the economy and answer some of the most popular questions and the event will be streamed on WhiteHouse.gov.

"Open for Questions" is a new experiment for WhiteHouse.gov, the President’s latest effort to open up the White House and give Americans from around the country a direct line to the Administration.
This first round will deal with a chief concern for all of us: the economy. We’ve created a few categories to better organize the questions, and encourage you to search for a specific question before you submit your own in case it already exists.
To get started, head over to http://WhiteHouse.gov/OpenForQuestions and set up your account. Then follow the simple instructions to start voting on questions or submit your own (we encourage you to include a link to a published video of the question being asked, although this is not required).
This experiment is about encouraging transparency and accountability, so ask the President exactly what it is you want to know – but let others do the same. It is a community-moderated system, but remember that even though you may not like the viewpoint behind someone’s question, everyone has a right to their opinion. Also remember that Americans of all ages will be participating in this event, so be thoughtful about the words you choose. Participants are asked to follow some basic guidelines for submitting their own questions and flagging other questions as inappropriate.
So be part of history in the making and ask away. The team here at the White House can’t wait to see America’s response!

Open for Questions
Terms of Participation
March 24 - 26, 2009We invite you to participate in Open for Questions. During this special event, participants of all ages may post questions to the President about the economy on WhiteHouse.gov. Participants will also be able to rate the questions and the President will answer some of the most popular ones.
WhiteHouse.gov hopes to receive questions and opinions from all viewpoints. Open for Questions will be a community-moderated event in order to retain focus on the designated topic and to ensure that the event remains appropriate for participants of all ages. Accordingly, WhiteHouse.gov asks all participants to agree to the following Terms of Participation:
You agree to post only questions related to the economy (including topics essential to long term economic growth, such as education, fiscal responsibility, green jobs and energy, health care reform, and home ownership).
Because Americans of all ages will be part of this event, we ask all those who elect to participate to conduct themselves in a civil manner - to refrain from posting threats, obscenity, other material that would violate the law if published here, abusive language, and sexually explicit material.
During the event, participants are able to flag questions that they believe violate these Terms of Participation. You agree to flag only those questions you believe violate these terms. You agree not to flag questions for any other reasons, including your disagreement with the opinions expressed.
If several participants flag a question, it will appear less frequently in the "Featured Question" rotation, remain on other areas of the site, and be reviewed. If the question complies with these Terms of Participation, the reviewer will restore it to the "Featured Question" rotation. The reviewer may remove from the event off-topic questions, threats, obscenities, and material that would violate the law if published.
If you decide to provide a link to a video of yourself asking a question, you agree that such videos will comply with these Terms of Participation.
If you wish to ask the President a question, but do not want to participate in this special event, please visit www.whitehouse.gov/OFQalternative. Questions submitted through this alternative will be reviewed and may be answered by the President.
These are terms of an agreement between you and WhiteHouse.gov. By clicking Create Account, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Questions and voting are hosted by Google Inc., but whitehouse.gov owns and has access to the data related to the questions and voting, which will be treated in accordance with the whitehouse.gov privacy policy. Google never receives your email address and does not store the IP addresses related to Open for Questions.
And will any real, tough questions get through?
I hope some Freepers will post questions. If you do, post them here and we can vote them up on the OFQ site.
TOTUS is going online!
Yes on one and no on two. With apologies to Buckaroo Banzai.
Hey Zero.....since you’re supposed to be such an expert of MO’s clothes......what should I wear to the local gala coming up in April?
GET YOUR FACE OFF MY SCREENS AND GOVERN YOU FOOL!
LOL!
When do you plan to attend Ford Theater?
I really don’t care what he has to say. He’ll laugh off the serious questions and pretend to care about all the po’ folk.
To freep something means to hit a poll site with free republic votes. There should be a term for a request for freepers to show up to an open forum in massive numbers and kicking some butt in debate and then it should be used often. Lets start here.
The following is my “Top 10” List of Question to ask of the Pres_ent Obamessiah...
10.) Please explain to the public the difference between your proposals of nationalizing industries and Communism?
9.) Why did you lie to the American Public on Jay Leno and say you were shocked about the AIG bonuses when Congressman Christopher Dodd has said you asked to make sure those bonuses were in the bailout bill specifically?
8.) Please explain the difference between the 90% retroactive, penalty tax that Congress wants to levy on AIG employees and a Bill of Attainder Law.
7.) Please explain the meaning of the phrase; “shall not be infringed”?
6.) What “OTHER” emergencies is your National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) will be trained, funded, and equipped to respond to?
5.) Where are the NCCC camps located; are these the FEMA camps of the internet rumor fame?
4.) Please explain why you haven’t found bin Laden yet, and ended the War on Terror?
3.) Please explain why you wish to restrict our nation’s food supply by outlawing non-hybrid seeds (only allowing people to grow vegetables that do NOT produce viable seeds), and why you wish to oppress family, and organic farmers and restrict access to local, fresh food for the citizens by effectively outlawing farmer’s markets?
2.) Have you ever really READ the Constitution?
and, the number 1 question I want to ask Obama:
.
.
.
.
.
.
1.) MAY I SEE YOUR PAPERS, PLEASE?
No doubt it will be completely staged. I’ll bet they will make the questions “sound tough”, but if you look closely they’ll be completely scripted. The other questions will instead be “stories” about how so and so lost their job, or their sick and have no insurance, etc... etc... etc... Then he won’t have to even answer a question - he’ll just have to “give the solution”...
There is no way ANY of the questions in my post above will ever even be CONSIDERED to appear on the Web site, much less be ANSWERED unless Obama is someday served with a subpoena.
“To freep something means to hit a poll site with free republic votes.”
total waste of Free Republic’s good name.
Excellent post! Love the questions.
But I have a funny feeling that some pimple faced ACORN worker is going to be sitting in his parents basement answering these questions for Obama.
Mr. President, Mr. President, is it difficult to get up every morning realizing how totally brilliant and awesome you are? Do you just amaze yourself?
Thank you! Oh, how I wish someone would actually ASK one of these questions, or request one of these explanations of him. Questions like this should have been asked long before the last 2 months!
Anyway, I see a few typos and such now that I’ve posted. That seems to happen more and more recently in direct relation to how many Unconstitutional laws Obama proposes and Congress passes! LOL Must be something to do with the anger! ;-)
