This weekend, enviro-zealots will celebrate Earth Hour by turning off their lights. Theyve pulled this stunt for a few years now. But this time, theyve added a new twist: This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the worlds first global election, between Earth and global warming. For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming.

Thanks for the reminder. I like to enjoy life, so I always do the exact opposite of what every nanny-liberal does.

It’s spring and there’s a FReepin’ blizzard outside. I’m voting for Global Warming.

Uh oh, 8:30 is usually when we have the lights off while we rock the baby to sleep. Someone might interpret it as a vote for the envirokooks. Hmmm, I’ll have to think about how to get him to sleep with every light on in the house.

I’m not only going to turn on all my lights I’m also going to start up my 2-stroke snowmobile and spew a load of CO2 into the atmosphere.

That is a good start!
All of the energy reduction during “Earth Hour” this weekend won’t come close to what algore uses to travel to just one of his “global warming” conferences.

Every light going on, as well as TV and stereo. I may even do the ironing as well!
To further my vote for global warming, I may even buy a big ol’ can of hairspray and shoot that into the atmosphere!
To: Little Ray
You mean the Obama government is still allowing some kind of celebration of human achievement somewhere in this country?
To: DFG
“Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming.”
So...if I blink my lights on and off rapidly, what am I voting for?

If you turn everything off, for an hour or so before then -- you'll help set the benchmark lower.
Be sure to do your laundry, or take a shower (or both) starting at 8:30 -- if you have an electric water heater, you want to get it to turn on (it's the equivalent of 200 CFL bulbs). Use the (electric) clothes dryer too. Turn on your oven (bake a cake to celebrate the fact that you can bake a cake, without having to rub two sticks together first).
For fun, point out to any "Earth Hour" supporter you know that electric lights are far more efficient than candles. Incandescent bulbs are 25 to 50 times more efficient. CFL bulbs about 200 times & LED lights are about 300 times more efficent than a candle.

So, 3/28 at 20:30 is when I start my 2-stroke jet-ski? THAT will get someone’s attention. It always does, cough cough.
