HOT off the press! The Congressional Budget Office just released the cost estimates for S. 277 Serve America Act.(Senate’s version of HR 1388, Give Act)
CBO estimates S 277 would cost over $6.1 billion dollars over the 2010-2014 period.
Programs funded under National Community Service Act of 1990 (NCSA) and the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973 (DVSA) received appropriations of $1.1 billion for fiscal year 2009, including $200 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
..otherwise known as the PORKULUS/SPENDULUS Bill that passed that NO ONE in Congress read. Just lovely.
Taxpayers would fund international opportunities too. Volunteering abroad and US worker will pay for it. No problem. See next paragraph.
Finally, S. 277 would authorize the appropriation of $10 million a year through 2014 for a "Volunteers for Prosperity" program at USAID. The program would award grants to fund opportunities for volunteering internationally in coordination with eligible organizations.
CBO estimates that implementing programs with specified authorizations would cost $2.6 billion over the 2010-20 14 period, assuming appropriation of the specified amounts for 2010 and adjusting those amounts in subsequent years for anticipated inflation when no specific authorization exists.??
S. 277 includes annual participation goals similar to HR 1388. 250,000 by 2017.

We are moving forward on our rally in Washington D C.
We are working non stop in preparations for this historical event to be held Sept 12-13 2009 at the Lincoln Memorial Reflections pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
As for the time, The million man march that took place a few years age took over 2 years to organize, we are trying to push this through as fast as we can.
To protest in DC you have to have a permit and have approval to use a certain piece of land.
We called ahead of filing for these things. September 12 &13 were the next available days they had.
The other organization, resistnet.com, which was putting together a march for May 30, didn’t do this so they were refused their permit. Now they are joining with our group. So, we are doing this absolutely as soon we can.
To have a successful march takes time and organization.
Why are we protesting ?
1. To get the attention of the mainstream media.
2. To demand That Obama Provide proof that he is eligible to be president.
3. To demand that Congress and the Supreme court uphold our constitution.
4. To inform the public on the issue of Obama’s ineligibility to be president of the USA.
5. To demand that they can not take our constitutional rights away.
PRESIDENT OBAMA, WE DEMAND THAT YOU BE TRANSPARENT NOW

We are proud Americans who fear that we are losing the America we all know and love.

You were first. Just as I posted my later response Tammy Bruce said it on radio. She’s guesting for Laura.
I apologize for saying Kay Bailey H. was a cosponsor of the Senate Bill 277. I honestly thought I saw her name there the first time I looked. Her name is not there as of this morning, but John McCain’s is there. Looked three times before I wrote down his name.
Again I apologize for making this mistake and will try not to do it again.
You’re forgiven.:-) Thanks for correcting the mistake. While she’s not the most conservative Senator, I really didn’t think she’d sponsor a bill like this...
