A Presidential Wake Up Call (Newsweek editorial hits the Pres)
Newsweek ^ | March 20 2009 | Eleanor Clift

Posted on 03/21/2009 1:29:27 PM PDT by lt.america

Who would have thought 55 days into this administration we would be asking the question, what did he know and when did he know it? Word that a provision in the stimulus bill gave the green light for AIG to hand out bonuses using taxpayer money sent the media bloodhounds hot on the trail of whoever is the culprit. For a time, it looked like Senate Banking chairman Chris Dodd would take the fall, but after 24 hours of twisting in the wind, Dodd said the change that exempted past agreements to pay bonuses was made at the request of the administration.

President Obama likes to remind voters that he inherited a mess, and that's true, but this one is of his own making. And until he comes up with a satisfactory explanation of who did what when, and why, his credibility will suffer. Forty-eight hours ago, I didn't think Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner was in trouble, but if the transaction with Dodd turns out to have Geithner's fingerprints on it, his job could be in jeopardy. The deadly chain of events may have started innocently enough, with Treasury Department lawyers raising questions about the government retroactively curtailing private-sector contracts, but did Dodd, who authored the restrictive language, capitulate to some Treasury flunky, or did someone more senior lean on him?

Do you suppose that the leftwing whoring press have finally had enough watching of their crumbling 401K accounts and across-the board job lossses? Funny how they can be in the tank one day and jump ship the next, isn't it? What principles!

“If Eleanor Clift has realized what a lying POS Obama is, the rest of America is sure to wake up.”

Eleanor Clift knows kin.

In college we’d get media speakers occasionally. We had the late John Holliman, and he took questions. Mine was, “We are learning here to report in an unbiased fashiong and watching the major media it seems that the opposite is in vogue. Why are we getting so many stories that obviously cheerlead for the Democrats and liberalism.”

To his credit he said: “Well, if you poll journalists, you’ll find out that 80% of them consider themselves liberal and that’s bound to creep into their reporting.”

Then Eleanor was going to appear and the Department Head said it was mandatory and not attending would impact our grades. I asked her, “Is she taking questions?”

“No.”

I said, “I won’t be there, I’ve heard enough from her on TV.”

As one journalist put it the other day, “No longer is a stock market dive a Wall Street problem, it is a Main Street problem.” I am sure that more than a few big time journalists have wondered how strong their convictions really are when there 401Ks are spiraling down the drain.

Did you see that interview with Charlie Rangle this week? It's on You-Tube. Erin Burnett and some other guy really took ol' Chuck's azz to the woodshed. There was a longer version on FR this week but here's the link to the one YouTube's got up (Can I do this)???

I’m glad you observed this as well.

When people have a good secure job with a fat paycheck and substantial benefits to boot, they usually couldn’t care less about who the President is bonking or snubbing or even declaring a fake war.

With this economy though Mother Teresa could be healing people right and left if she were President, but people are still going to get nasty and it will turn ugly.

After reading extensively about the French Revolution, I always remember that while Marie’s spending was outrageous, it wasn’t as bad as the rest of the deficit, but the leaders are always, ALWAYS scapegoats no matter whatever good they do if things are going bad for the Average Joe.

The press has next to diddly credibility these days and with more and more outlets of information available, they can’t keep the lid on, about the bad economy. Plus it isn’t just one sector, it’s all sectors being damaged. No one has any patience for a fratboy President who was mainly elected because of the desire to be part of ‘history’ and now with reality closing in, they want their President to actually do something, be the leader they thought he would be.

If the Teleprompter Jesus has lost Elanor Clift, he will have to seize power outright, or he will be impeached for incompetence before 2009 is done.

The last thing we need right now is a terrorist attack or another military crisis. I have zero confidence in Zero's ability to defend us. He will flounder and hold more press conferences with his trusty teleprompter and send out Baghdad Bob and mumble all over the place to where we know our goose is cooked.

At the very least, this clown is incompetent, at it's worst, he's deliberately trying to destroy us.

The name Clift knows but doesn't quite speak is Rahm Emanuel. He saw to it that retention bonuses were protected in the stimulus bill. And Emanuel coordinated news people, congressional Democrats, Code Pink, slogan-chanting union “protesters” with signs and other players in the “HATE AIG” political theater production. FOX News exposed the farce.

Just as the German-Polish “border skirmish” of 1939 was the pretext for Nazis to unleash the Blitzkrieg, their spiritual descendants will attempt to use the "Wall Street bonus outrage” of 2009 to impose draconian tax codes and regulations.

Found the better one. It's linked to NewsBusters. It's great. Rangle about chokes to death when he gets accused of having some "Tax problems of his own."

This loser twit is one of the biggest commies in Washington. She crawled on her belly like a snake defending Bill Clinton for eight years. If even she is turning her blueblood brow downward to say tsk tsk, then Comrade O may yet be reigned in.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed but I won’t hold my breath. There are far too many who are willing to jump under the bus for this retard.

Geithner would be the designated jumpee but if he goes it will do enormous damage to Obama anyway. Not to mention confidence in any “recovery” plan. The mess doesn’t actually have to land on Obama’s desk for him to catch the fallout. Unfortunately, so will the economy.

True, but a lot of people voted Obama in to shut Al and Jesse up. Too bad they did throw our country away, but thankfully after this it will take a LONG time for the Democrats to be forgiven.

This economic slump is the worst we’ve seen in decades; this isn’t a mere slump, it’s a full blown failure and free falling into collapse with not one to take charge and say “this is what we need to do...” and motivate people to do it. Instead Obama acts as if he has Clinton’s economy and while the press likes him, they can’t protect him at all. If an attack does happen, Obama will more likely than not get dragged into the street and shot.

People forget that very little is impossible and the hard work Bush put into making sure we were safe that people got complacent and the press got spoiled.

I haven’t really been very wrong when it comes to Obama’s actions, and sooner or later (sooner) he’s going to get us involved in some sort of diplomatic standoff because of his idiot antics.

Heads of state are always to be treated with every courtesy because they represent both their people and always have their finger on the trigger. Iran is laughing at Obama’s attempts to ‘reach out’ and the Chinese have already pulled a few stunts. I did hear he missed a chance to greet a small cadre of Spanish dignitaries supposedly because he didn’t know.

Of course, it’s the dolt’s job to know everything that is going on.
