Let's have a constitutional showdown! Every Congressman swears an oath to " preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
To a casual observer, these words could be interpreted to mean that laws enacted by Congress should be consistent with the requirements of the Constitution.
To the majority of Congress, these words mean something else, or have no meaning at all, because much of the legislation produced in Washington has no relationship at all with the Constitution.
If we are a nation founded upon the U.S. Constitution, then our laws should be constrained by the Constitution. If we no longer wish to be constrained by our Constitution, we should abandon it and fly by the seat of our congressional pants.
Let's have a constitutional showdown. Stand up for the Supreme Law of the Land and shock your fellow citizens into thinking with WND's "Legalize the Constitution!" magnetic bumper sticker. Arizona Representative John Shadegg has introduced the "Enumerated Powers Act" (H.R. 450), which requires that: "Each Act of Congress shall contain a concise and definite statement of the constitutional authority relied upon for the enactment of each portion of that Act." What a great idea! Every congressman who has sworn to "
preserve, protect and defend the Constitution" should eagerly endorse this concept or be exposed as a blatant hypocrite.

Don't they already do that? Politicians have no problem with giving lip service to anything that gets them off the hot seat or provides another vote for reelection. So who is going to enforce it? We the people are the ones who are supposed to enforce it with the ballot box, but there are too many idiots and greedy people who simply don't care about right and wrong, justice, legitimacy or the constitution.
We need to abolish Federal and State involvement in the economy and our personal lives ASAP.
I now better understand the author's lament as Obama and his Socialist Democrats agenda becomes increasing apparent.
America is at that awkward stage. Its too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards. --- opening lines of 101 Things To Do Til The Revolution by Claire Wolfe
Uh, isn't that what the RATS and some Republicans have been doing for decades? Selling out the nation to one world governance controlled by the unelected, self appointed elitists at the UN?
There isn't an option- to "abandon it and fly by the seat of our pants"- the oath of office is to be taken seriously, and SHOULD be used as grounds to remove anyone from office who does not comply with the rules "we the people" have set out to those "we the people" elect to govern "we the peoples" nations business, which is NOT to micro manage our lives and freedoms, but simply take care of the nations business.
Everybody has some pet law that they want the Governemnt to enforce, Constitution be damned. So it goes.
So why aren't you out on the streets "manning up" instead of sitting here tapping on the keyboard? You shouldn't have any time at all to be tapping on the keyboard.

PERFECT! Great idea.
How do you propose to do that?
I do not know. Maybe there is a political Einstien out there somewhere.
This would make a nice counterpoint to the "oath" the obamabots are trying to extract from door to door, though. I have three copies of the Constitution/Declaration right under my hands as I type. I even have a copy of the State constitution, too. :o)
$5.95 for a bumper sticker? You have to be kidding.
Did you even watch the video? Outlaw the Electoral College? Bad idea.
I’ll bump that.
I’ll bump that.
Get a message out to your congresscritter, immediately. Let him/her know that H.R.450 is vitally important to the satisfactory fulfillment of his/her performance in office, and that you demand it’s passage.
Let them take a stand. Either they will support and defend the US Constitution as they have sworn; or, they will be in violation of their oath and should immediately resign from office.
