This information is on your driver's license. Can't they just look at that or your passport to figure out who you are? I don't understand how this is going to be any different

The government will track everyone's movements.

People with matching names, but mismatched birthday and/or gender will be waived through.

(no terrorist would ever submit an incorrect birthday)

Over the phone or web, how are they supposed to know if you lied about your DOB? There’s also those who aren’t sure what their gender is that day.

The should have something in place so we’ll know if this will work for the general public. Perhaps do a study of it on a small scale first like have passengers bring their official BC to board Air Force One.

By showing my passport, my birthdate and gender are on record, this is freaking nuts.

I provide id for every damn thing I do but B. Hussein, I should just take his word on it.

What the hell happened to this country.

The change is supposed to help reduce the number of Americans who are misidentified as individuals on the agency's no-fly and "selectee-for-further-inspection" watch lists.

Some idiot TSA employee pulls a five year old boy because he is on the "no fly list", and now they want us to give our date of birth just to buy a plane ticket. Idiots! How much do you want to bet that they voted for Obama?

you'll have to provide your birth date and gender whenever you buy an airplane ticket.

What the hell is this "gender" business? The proper word is "sex." The term "Gender" should be confined to linguistics.

I have a replacement knee, implanted 5 years ago. I am singled out for full screening every time I board a plane. Does anyone know of a certification that can be obtained through a law enforcement agency (State Police, FBI, whatever...) that tells the TSA that I am not a threat with a titanium joint? I fly a couple times a month and am tired of the 15 minute inch by inch examination. I am on a first name basis with a few of the screening personnel at specific airports, but they still have me assume the position for special clearance.

What difference will it make? The TSA will continue to give in depth inspections and everything short of a body cavity search to WWII widows, Korea vets and elderly Catholic priests as they always have.

Looks good on the records they keep, and they need to stay out of trouble for possible “profiling” allegations.

Sometimes the cruise lines buys my tickets for me(group rate), so what happens then? I just show up at the ticket counter with an ID.

TSA is bonkers.

That said, like everyone here, I want a safe and secure airplane. Behavioral profiling is the answer but that’s not PC.

I’m couldn’t find real work so I joined TSA. Not being qualified to do anything useful is also a requisite for becoming a congresscreep.

I will be here longer than you will ever hold any job you have and will probably NEVER be laid off.

I will get full benefits funded by you.

I will get retirement funded by you with taxes you will pay on ALL that you make and my retirement will be inflation adjusted and without risk. Your’s isn’t...ha, ha.

I have to be politically correct so even if you are an arab carrying an RPG I can’t single anyone out for profiling and so I have to SELECT obviously innocent people for “special” attention to prove I’m not profiling.

I’m from the government.

Like most government employees and politicans, I’m a pervert so bend over because....

Typical gov. control psychology: everyone must stand naked like a jew going to the death chamber because some dirtbag civil servant won’t do their jobs of getting the right ID.

Well, normally, I wouldn’t care. But since Herr Barry wants to take over cybersecurity from the DHS and put it under the WH, I’m begining to think we have a problem here...

Yeah but it is an automated flagging system. The airlines don’t ask for your drivers license number.

Why are they bothering? There is no “war on terror”. No “enemy combatants”. No acts of terrorism, just “man caused disasters”. So says FedGov....
