"AIG is Obama's 'Katrina' -- in terms of an example of government's failure -- and the failure of presidential leadership."
... That's according to former Ohio Secretary of State and Family Research Council Senior Fellow Ken Blackwell.
Clearly the AIG bonus story has spurred a huge populist backlash -- building on angst which had previously only been manifest during the Santelli rant -- and subsequent tea parties.
But anger over the AIG bailout appears to be just now reaching fever pitch, and it is starting to look like the bonus scandal may be laid solely at the feet of Democrats (they are quickly moving to get tough with AIG, forcing people to pay back the bonus money, but it is becoming clear that some key Democratic leaders were aware of the bonuses before they were paid).
And because Republicans -- who do not control the presidency or either house of congress -- were excluded from the hastily-written stimulus bill, they can hardly be blamed for the bonuses being paid.
President Obama, of course, promised during the campaign that he wouldn't sign anything unless it had been online for five days. "If this had been followed, business experts would have had time to review the bill, and we could have, perhaps, avoided this catastrophe. But President Obama broke his word, and now we are all stuck with paying this bill," added Blackwell.
Blackwell believes the AIG bonus scandal has the potential to devastate Obama's first term, just as President Bush's mishandling of Katrina devastated his second term. "And just as President Bush had his point man, Michael Brown, President Obama has his point-man,

Next step for Obama,...throw Timmie under the Bus!
Obama has time to read ncaa basketball brackets but none of these bills.
I don’t have time to pick ncaa basketball bracket winners. I am too busy. Amazing the president of the USA has time to do that sort of thing. Does he think he’s still in college?
If the republicans were a real and functional political party, the dems would have been thoroughly tarred and feathered this week.
Sounds good to me. Blame should fall where it belongs. Hope it sticks.
Bush’s fault! Don’t know how the media will get there, but they will try. And if that fails, Republicans’ fault: their potential opposition forced a rushed vote (already seen this). If that fails, the story will be buried as soon as possible. Thou Shalt Not Speak Ill of Der Furheur or His Party. In any case, Steele (WRINO - worthless republican in name only) will appologize for the republicans not working in a sufficiently bipartisan manner to avoid this mess. Wish I was kidding.
By the lack of action alone, the RNC is proving itself to be the lesser leftist wing of the DNC.
The Repubs are too busy quaking in their boots because Dems have called them “The Party of No”.
Let’s cower!
Disgraceful lot.
Anyone who thinks this doesn’t understand the power of state-controlled media.
Newt is doing his part:
when you are losing big in sports, there is a timw when you send a message. All that you do is get very very physical. In my case that meant dropping the mitts after a satisfying run at an opposing player (hockey)
Our current Rebub castrati need to locate their cojones and get up close and personal and send messages they will no longer be the DNC b*()&!

obama will be the end of this country ... a very good friend, a high ranking west point officer, just told his daughters to make sure they were carrying potassium iodine with them at all times. hummm wonder why? He’s never EVER been this concerned and he’s high enough to be privy to information the general public is not!! I can tell you the reason with 5 letters... see if you can figure it out. And for all you intelligent (i.e., republicans) take note ... hit the pharmacy and take precautions ... better safe than sorry. All you liberal democrats ... keep your heads in the sand.
Potassium iodine information: http://www.ki4u.com/potassium_iodine.htm
Considering that our leaders in DC just squandered 2 trillion dollars at the stroke of a pen, those $162M in bonuses, (which is less than 1/200 of 1%), have turned out to be a useful diversion to this fiscal fiasco.
“Obama hates taxpayin’ people!!” (Channeling Spike)
correction 1/10 of 1%
Still a pittance.
On the front page of GOP.com?
March Madness baby, looks like Steele and HUSSEIN Baraka have their love of Basketball in common.
Unforgivable incompetence.
The president has a staff of about 1,700 people. Didn't they have time to read the bill either?
