Really though, I hate the way some people explain away anyone who disagrees with them as a bigot. I heard one person comment on the tea parties by saying they were "just a bunch of rich people who don't care about anyone." I mentioned that they sure didn't look like a bunch of rich people, and he said "yea, you're right, they're probably just a bunch of black-haters who want Obama to fail." Why is violence always out?

Our founding fathers were violent, were they not? The abolitionists were, too. Anti-slavers were violent. Were they all in the wrong, all the time?

I support the death penalty. Is that a violent means to an end of having a safer society? I also support just wars. I also support violent self-defense and a means to the end of protecting myself.

Must we disavow violence of any type and at all times in order to be legitimate in this country?

Maybe this idiotic commentator ought to actually look up our history (while I never condone violence) maybe he ought to realize that our founders sought the formation of militias (many of them being formed today do not advocate for open ward with the US government, merely preparation to defend their communities/families as home guard units). As long as they don’t threaten anyone then I see no reason why “good ole boys with guns” in the woods shouldn’t be left alone.
