Senior executives (banks)on both sides of the Atlantic on Friday warned of an exodus of talent from some of the biggest names in US finance, saying the “anti-American” measures smacked of “a McCarthy witch-hunt” that would send the country “back to the stone age”. “Finance is one of America’s great industries, and they’re destroying it,”The banker added: “It’s like a McCarthy witch-hunt . . . This is the most profoundly anti- American thing I’ve ever seen.” In Frankfurt one employee at a US investment bank said the new tax measures would “send [the US] back to the stone age”.

“Commodity traders are already moving to companies like BP where they can make as much money as they used to,” said another banker at a US firm.

Welcome to Obama, Pelosi and Reid's iron fist government. The making of a marxist controlled government where everything is dictated, free speech is stifled and capitalism is crushed.

"This is the most profoundly anti- American thing I’ve ever seen.”

It's because they're Democrats! What else did he expect?

Rangel, Schumer, Obama, Frank et al are going to wipe out New York City. It is probably dead already.

We’ll now see if the GOP is smart enough to turn this into a fundraising advantage, or if they are too stupid to exploit this monumental Dim blunder.

There is no one who despises Herr Ogabe more than I do, but there is some poetic justice the fact that some of the New Yorkers who financed and voted for him are getting kicked in the face. The unfortunate thing is that Goldman Sachs is getting way too much out of the AIG bailout, when they should be bankrupt like the rest of their cohorts.

This whole mess started with legislation, and these arrogant pukes have the gall to point fingers.

Not to worry - McCain is stepping up to the plate and saying that Obama and the Treasury Secretary should be given a chance. Can hardly wait until I move to Arizona so I can register there and vote against McCain.

I bet some of these people, in fact quite a few, probably voted for Obama.

Jorge Bush was an open borders RINO but he got a lot of stuff right. Bush and the GOP Congress were paradise compared to this nightmare.

Most of those East Coast Financial wizards voted for Obama. More proof that you can have an Ivy League education and still be an idiot.

Well, I'd like to see an exodus, nay, a prosecution, of the "talents" that came up with all these convoluted derivatives and other sleight-of-hands schemes to make money of whole cloth.

We know what mortgages, loans, and srocks are;but when the mortgages and other loans or obligations have been bundled and re-re-sold to the point no one can even prove who has the mortgage, the farce must end.

I cry no tears for those conniving shysters who created much of this mess, and neither will the vast majority of Americans.

The bailout was wrong when it started under Bush and it is still wrong now.

BTW, all the “liberal New York jerks who voted for Obama deserve this” posts are 100% right.

All these guys - McCain, Bush, Obama, Paulson, Berneke, the whole rotten cabal - like and encourage each other because they're all...

COMMUNITARIANS!

Some may be communist, some may be socialist, others yet Fabians or useful idiots...whatever, but the thing they all have in common is that they are Communitarians, and for us regular folks, that does not translate into anything good.

We're experiencing the ancient Chinese curse: May you live in interesting times!

While I will confess all this is indeed interesting, I didn't by any means want it THIS interesting!

CA....

From:

“How to find Happiness during the Collapse of Western Civilization”

(R.J. Ringer 1983)

“On reflection, there probably is one distinction that can be made among a Liberal, Socialist, and Communist. While all three are dishonest, each one presents himself differently to the world.

A Liberal is nothing more than a closet communist; a Socialist is in the process of coming out of the closet; and a Communist is already on the outside, trying to shove you into the closet.”

This was a Republican blunder too. They voted to tax these guys 90% which is UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

If these friggin’ bankers were so smart, how did we end up where we are?

Seriously, why should we care if they walk? Where are they going to be able to plunder better than finances?

Let keep talking and then tell them to go!

Some dimwit Pubs are jumping on the Obamunism bus and will hopefully the same fate as the useful idiots as Dodd and TurboTaxTimmy. And yes - there is some level of poetic justice for the NY enablers who brought this puppet to life.

Something wicked this way came.

Many of the upper earners on Wall Street have had a good life mostly unhindered for decades. They would dutifully contribute to both parties in the belief that life would be the same no matter who won. And they were right, because it didn't matter who had the House, the Senate, or the Presidency. They just kept rolling along. Spectacular mansions, jets, yachts, fabulous vehicles, maids, extraordinary vacations, and access to the powerful in the State and Federal political houses. But something has changed and people are jolted like never before. What happened? Why are they being targeted?

As long as there was gridlock, or if Republicans were in charge, there was little chance that things would change. Oh sure, occasionally someone would screw up and the investigators would crack down, but that didn't happen very often.

What has changed is that liberals are in full charge with no one to stop them. The people being targeted by the left should have paid more attention in the past when the auto industry was under attack for producing SUVs, when the oil companies were being vilified as evil profiteers, and when laws were being passed to punish us all for global warming and greenhouse gases.

So now, an unrestrained left whips up the crowds and points out the houses of the rich. The rich are receiving death threats. Who is defending them? Their Governors? Their State politicians? Their mayors? It doesn't seem so. The loudest protester so far has been Rush Limbaugh.

The next loudest protesters need to be the Republicans in The Senate and the House. Yes, they didn't win, but that should not stop them from very publicly putting the name to the evil that the leftists unleash on private citizens.

A couple of questions I have, and they are being asked every day by thousands, and perhaps millions of people are: If you knew, or strongly suspected, what Obama was going to do once he got into office, would you have donated ANY MONEY AT ALL to the Democrats, and would you still have voted for him? And, now knowing what has been brought forth, are you ever going to vote for Obama or any Democrat again?. Are you ever going to make a monetary donation to the Democrat party again?

And most importantly, do you people realize that much worse in coming?
