When Barack Obama was running for president, he promised to change the tone in Washington. And what was the tone in Washington at that time? Acrimonious and foul-mouthed, due mostly to the extremely offensive rantings of one Vice President Dick Cheney.
Cheney once memorably told Pat Leahy to, as they say in the newspaper business, "perform an anatomically impossible act." People were scandalized.
This came just several years after Cheney was caught on a hot microphone agreeing with George Bush that the New York Times' Adam Clymer was a "major league" orifice.
So it's disappointing, to say the least, that Joe Biden appears to be following in his predecessor's footsteps by swearing his face off whenever a microphone approaches it.
He was recently caught saying the mother of all swear words, the very worst swear word of all, the one that Dick Cheney said to Pat Leahy only this time in adjectival form and in a friendly tone of voice.
A former Senate colleague greeted Biden at an event in Union Station last Friday as "Mr. Vice President," and the newly minted Veep, never one for formality, told his friend, "Gimme a [adjectival] break." This was all caught on a microphone that Biden apparently assumed was off.
Well, that tears it.
Biden has said many absurd and objectionable things in his long public career, but never has he dropped the King of All Swear Words on a hot microphone when, who knows, maybe impressionable little tots might have heard him.
Do we want this man just a heartbeat away from the presidency? If he says the very worst swear word of all to his friend, just imagine what he'll say to America's enemies.

Well, color me “gullible”, but I don’t think that what Mr. Cheney suggested is impossible at all. I firmly believe that scumbag Leahy could pull it off!
I’d pay to see him try (or someone to force him to try).
This is known as the "BOXER/FEINSTEIN" political model. For my money, Senator Boxer has excellent job performance in making Feinstein, who ain't no Einstein, look really really smart. Biden and BO would do well to go to school on her.

I think I had heard them all by the time I was in the first grade 65 years ago and heard them in school.
What's private about standing in the middle of press event at Union Station?
I hate it when people have a "private conversation" on line at the movie theater and swear like they're alone.

No, she doesn’t want him to resign because he supports COMMUNIST policies, or Bills of Attainder, or FORCED LABOR CAMPS under the guise of “service”, or stealing tax payers dollars and laundering them through troubled economic companies to OTHER companies, and FOREIGN COUNTRIES, or for suggesting our soldiers pay for their COMBAT INJURIES, etc... etc... etc... She wants him to resign because he said the ‘F’ word and it was caught on a microphone???
Talk about utter stupidity. She is completely lacking any sense of reality here... SHE is the one who should be preparing a resignation letter due to her incredible lack of intelligence.
As for Biden (and Obama) - I’d prefer to see them impeached for violating the Constitution, and hauled off to jail. No simple resignation for these tyrants.
Obozo picked Biden as assassination insurance IMO.

The battle against vulgar language in DC was lost decades ago.
Even Nixon, that good Quaker boy, used the “F” word in staff meetings.

As a brief aside, I do think that both leahy and clymer need to be frequently reminded of the comments and their salience.
