I can see two new openings for captains in the very near future ...
Well, one was a sub and the other an amphibius ship, I could see how this could easilly happen.
I would think that the Sub captain is more to blame, unless they were running on the surface, and even then, he’s the stealthier boat.
These Captains obtained their commissions during a previous administration, which also set the rules for navigation. It’s Bush’s fault.
So right you are — and for very good reasons !
It seems these Naval mishaps come in “bunches” — from my experience over the years.
Time for the Navy to have a close look at our competency level and optempo. These two elements of the equation are intregally related IMHO.
The rapid rotation of the Commanding Officers is one compelling factor in the competency issue. Additionally, often some of the truly unsatisfactory naval ship captains are long gone — often promoted to 0-7 — before their detrimental impact upon the commands have been fully ascertained.
(I speak to this issue with substantial first hand experience.)
Kindest personal regards.
Yup.
By the time you completed that post I am rather certain that bags were packed.
Kind of reflects poorly on their command in chief. You know, the one who expects to be taken seriously by Iran when he says he wants to improve relations. The ship of state is a ship of fools.
This is the second mishap event in six weeks or so. I wonder about the people the Navy is choosing to captain its ships and submarines.
It boggles the mind that two things so large can EVER be in collision proximity unless all electronic range sensing devices are out of commission on both vessels.
But I’m a retired Army puke so what do I know?
