Dodd's political stock tumbles in Connecticut

WASHINGTON – Democrats may want to start thinking about a bailout for Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, whose political stock has slipped amid the financial meltdown.

As a five-term Democrat who blew out his last two opponents by 2-1 margins in a blue state that President Barack Obama won handily, Dodd, D-Conn., should be cruising to re-election in 2010. Instead, he's feeling heat from a Republican challenger eager to make him a poster boy for the tumult in the housing and financial markets.

This is one of the seats where 5 or 10 bucks per Freeper could get rid of this dolt...

Unfortunately I expect the RNC and Steele to have NO Contract fo America 2, ground game, talk radio and internet game, and they will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory....

Mr. Steele, where is my Party of Buckley and Reagan?.............

Are there any potential conservative candidates in Connecticut with a shot at this seat?

Dodd is in Doodoo.

And it couldn't happen to a better, more bloviating POS.

Dodd should be serving 25-35 in a penal institution.

Dodd should be serving 25-35 in a penal institution.

Pretty darn lenient, but if you tack on Barney frank and fifty years I’ll sign off on the deal.

I wish Dodd would ____________________! Fill in the blank. The best euphemism I can come with is disappear.

Rob Simmons, former Congressman, is said to be the potential challenger. But, any GOP in CT is really just democrat lite.

If you look him up here, you will see his ACU ratings.

Just like his worthless crook of a father, this scumbag will stay in office despite the charges swirling around him. About the time that the re-election effort should begin he'll announce that he wants to spend more time with his family.

The chosen heir-apparent will emerge from the democrat shadows and probably get elected promising "change"

This is good news. One way of re-establishing some credibility is for him to sit on the flames of the fire right now also B. Frank and to topple Pelosi’s power grip she has on the dems’. Michael Steele as a spokesman for the republicans has definitely got to go, too. He’s worse than Arnie the late-coming Kool-Aid Kid.

I’m beginning to suspect the WH and Dems will encourage him to “spend more time with his family”...maybe in Ireland!

Have you seen this morning’s NY Times?
Lead headline:
“Connecticut Senator Draws Voters’ Ire for His Bonus Role”.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/20/nyregion/20dodd.html?_r=1&hp

I don’t believe such NYT headlines just happen. Dodd is being pushed.

The first sign was earlier in the week when the WH tried to hang the AIG amendment around Dodd’s neck. Such a tactic would first require them to have decided he was toast anyway. He was just barely smart enough to stay one step ahead of them. Now we see this headline in the Times. Looks to me like there’s a battle royale going on behind the scenes.

I’ll be surprised if Dodd is on the ticket next year.
As an aside, one of the funnier comments I saw in reaction to a Hartford Courant editorial was a woman who wrote: “We were all outraged when he moved his family to Iowa. Now we just wish he would move back there”. LOL!
