Barack Obama announces First Dog news on Leno
Herald Sun ^ | 20 March 2009 | Jeff Mason

US President Barack Obama was alternately sombre and light-hearted in an unusual appearance on America's top-rated late-night variety show last night, moving deftly from the economic crisis to the April arrival of a First Dog in the White House.

In an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the first by a sitting President, Mr Obama talked seriously about his economic plans and voiced strong support for embattled Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

Wearing a bright red tie and an American flag pin on his lapel, the President pitched his budget and said he was stunned to learn crippled insurance giant AIG had paid out big bonuses to employees after using taxpayer money to stay afloat.

But he switched gears to talk about family life in the White House, confirming a timetable for the First Family's acquisition of a canine companion.

Mr Obama said the dog would arrive after his planned trip to Europe in early April.

"When we get back, the dog will be in place," Mr Obama said, adding his daughters Sasha and Malia were not the only ones looking forward to its arrival.

"They say if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog," he joked.

More seriously, Mr Obama said critics had underestimated the number of challenges facing his Treasury secretary, who has taken heat for his handling of the AIG bonus scandal.

I see the pictures above. Her features look the same, nose not changed as far as I can see.

Does Michael Jackson even have a real nose left? Lol.

If they really get a dog I just bet it won't be around for long. Barry couldn't stand to be upstaged by a pooch. they will find some excuse about the dog being “untrainable,” or “too rambunctious,” or something. Just wait. He won't care if his daughters are sad, he just cannot stand if anyone or anything else steals the limelight from him.

Heck the dog would do a better job as President of the United States of America. At the very least, the dog would have done less damage than Obama/Rahmbo have done to the country, to the world.

The nose looks different to me, also. What about the chin? Looks more pointed in the latest pic.

Yeah contrast that with President Bush and the Barney and Miss Beasley movies.

All of Obama’s crap about getting a Portuguese Water Dog from a shelter is just that, crap. They are a fairly rare breed and their breeders DO NOT let them end up in shelters.

A dog will lick your hand when everybody else in town wants to bite it, so I'd say his plans are to get a dog are wise.

A rabid rottweiler would be a great choice.

That's Michelles's and Rahm Emanuel's role.

Google “angry black woman with chip on shoulder,” welcome to pic #1!

As for the dog’s name, I think Frank would be kinda cute - hmm, wonder if it’s too WASP-y for MO. Moose is cute, too. She must have a control issue about the dog’s name - LET YOUR GIRLS NAME THE F’NG DOG IF YOU EVER ACTUALLY GET ONE!!

"President said he was stunned to learn crippled insurance giant AIG had paid out big bonuses to employees after using taxpayer money to stay afloat."

The president is stunned to find that AIG did what was permitted in the bills the president voted for as senator and signed as president? I am also stunned that he is so incompetent.
