He garnered the majority of Catholic votes in the 2008 election, but a number of Catholic groups now say President Obama is showing a complete lack of regard for their beliefs. They count his decisions to lift restrictions on abortion and stem cell research among the most offensive. "As far as the Catholic church goes, there's no bigger priority for Catholics than human dignity and human life," said Cathy Ruse, senior fellow at the Family Research Council said. "And the Obama administration has just been an assault on those values again and again in just two months."

He said he would do exactly as he has done. I heard it! Where were they?
Unbelievable! Christians voting for an antichrist socialist.
the National Catholic Conference of Bishops
You're using incorrect terminology and obviously haven't yet mastered the art of cut and paste. The National Conference of Catholic Bishops ceased to exist on 1 July 2001 when it merged with the United States Catholic Conference to become the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. They are a hierarchical pastoral association with very little collective authority in the Church.
the American Catholic Church?
The "American Catholic Church" is a heretical group in no way affiliated with the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church in America is in communion with the Holy See.
I am not a Catholic so I dont know how it works.
That's quite obvious. Don't be commenting authoritatively on topics you know little about.
Are all Catholics as obnoxious as you or is this just your special gift?
The majority of Catholics voted for the guy and clearly the NCCB funded ACORN through CCHD and so did the USCCB. Playing with a name change as if it means something is a cheap dodge!
All due respect to my Roman Catholic brethren (who mostly don't return the favor)... yep. You got what you voted for. What does B16 say about this?
I do not understand how a Catholic could remotely consider voting for a person like Obama.
Catholics, please reply to me why you voted for this man.
I am not Roman Catholic, but like most if not all mainstream Christian churches the Enemy is hard at work.
When you vote for a skunk, expect him to stink. When you vote for a democrat, expect him to behave as a liberal. It’s high time the mushy centrists started dealing with reality instead of falling in love with a TelePrompTer.
You said it! I guess some of the cafeterias are still open.
The rest of us aren't disappointed in That One, because we KNEW what he would do. We're just disappointed in the idiot Catholics who helped put him in office.
The Lame-Stream Media also has some culpability in that regard.
Push comes to shove I would never vote for anyone but a conservative. A majority of people don’t have that conviction....Mccain made it easy for them.
Swell mixed metaphore! I truly love mixed metaphores, seriously. Thank you!
Well, DUH!!!!
...took the words right outta my mouth.
To be fair to our Catholic brethren, I am shocked by the number of so-called evangelical Christians that voted for Obama.
It really makes you see how easy of a time the real Anti-Christ (who will not need a Teleprompter) will have in leading the world away from Christ.
I am a non practicing Roman Catholic, also know as a “fallen away Catholic”. I attended Catholic school as a child and at one time, I even considered the Monastery, briefly. Well, I found girls and the meaning of life quickly change for me. ;>)
I am disappointed with this news, but I am also concerned that some seem to be painting the Catholic church with a very wide brush. There are a good many Catholics that are devout in their beliefs, conservative to their bones and have a good relationship with God. As with many religions, they too have had an identity problems over the past many years.
I doubt there is a religion out there that doesn’t have the stench of libs within their following. I suspect that the Mormons have the least. No, I am not a Mormon.
We could probably blame every religion out there for dumping Obama in our lap. I mean, they are large groups and they do organize.
I guess that while we are in the religion bashing mode, I believe a good case can be made that due to their infatuation with Huckabug, the Baptists helped to confound our primary so badly that we lost our slim chance to get a good candidate. I’m not saying that Baptists are bad, I belive they may have meant well, but I do think that a good many of them were suckers and bought the garbage that Huckbeeee was selling them.
My point is, while it does seem that the Catholic church owns a big piece of this stink pie, there is a lot of blame to go around.
I guess the question that begs in my mind, is just exactly are we going to do about it for the future?
I will not pretend that I to know the answer, but my small brain thinks that we start with staying with our conservative principles and that we recognize that to win anything, we must have folks from the Catholic church, just as we need them from all other religions (My exception is Islam).
Bottom line, just as so many of you have said before, we need another Reagan. Such a person could pull it all together... or... it just can no longer be done in this country.
Of course, now that Obama and his merry dims are burning Rome, we might get lucky when all the Obama fools realize that they have been duped...and that it hurts like hell.
I guess the truth hurts, but it has been reported time and again that Catholic voters, as a group, vote for democrats well over 50% of the time. Now what do you call a group of people who continually vote for politicians who specifically vote against their religious beliefs?
It has nothing to do with the ones I know. These statistics are freely available and even other Catholic freepers on this thread admit it. Stick your head in the sand if it makes you feel better.
Idiot Jacobites.
If they're all quoting the same bad data, of course I wouldn't/shouldn't/couldn't.
