We have met the enemy and it's the people who represent us. The blowhards and buffoons in Congress proved again Wednesday they are worse than useless.
Ronald Reagan's famous line that "government is the problem" kept going through my head as the AIG hearing demonstrated the dangers of Washington's role in the economy. The very people, Republicans and Democrats alike, who can't balance America's budget now claim the expertise to run banks, insurance companies and automakers.
If we let them, we're dumber than they are.
What was supposed to be a legal lynching of AIG boss Edward Liddy over the firm's bonus plan turned into a humiliating defeat for the lynch mob. Liddy came off as a smart straight shooter, a man who gave up retirement for $1 a year to rescue AIG so it wouldn't bring down the financial system.
He also proved himself a cut above those who aimed to make cheap headlines at his expense. I'd pay to see him question Congress on its role in the economic mess.

Liddy stands head and shoulders above those in Washington who follow no star except merciless ambition -- which isn't saying much.
You need to apologize. To the Three Stooges.
Will they work for a dollar a year?
“Dewey, Cheatem & Howe” ?
One of the more hideous things I’ve heard in recent memory was Tuesday’s live C-SPAN broadcast of Harry Reid complaingin and expressing his “revulsion” about AIG bonuses.
Is this not the same Harry Reid who has signed off on $1.4 TRILLION in Socialist handouts and BILLION$$$ in Democrat earmarks in recent weeks!?!?!?!?
What qualifies Harry Reid to run any kind of international business enterprise?
I was disgusted and appalled to hear that Liddy’s people were receiving death threats and to see Frank’s complete obliviousness to the danger. I can’t believe the American people are so stupid as to complain about $165 million but say nothing about the $11 trillion being taken them.
Is Obama going to return the $100K plus bonus he got from AIG?
Goodwin says it all in a short read. People we need to do something, hell anything. These corrupt clowns are going to bring this country to ruin.
It is hard to watch this corruption run amok and figure that they will have no punishment for their actions.
What I fear the most is a terror attack. This administration would make a disaster worse.
Imagine them being in charge of our healthcare. What an ominous thought.
Yes, they are that stupid. How do you think we got the TOTUS as POTUS?
Frank's bellowing left schmutz on everyone within hearing.
Mr. niteowl77
Don’t forget “Begg, Borrow and Steele”.
“What I fear the most is a terror attack. This administration would make a disaster worse.”
The terror attack is from within. It is happening now.
For AIG’s part, they have just discovered the price of taking government money. If you take the king’s shilling, you take the king’s orders.
On a similar note, is there any outrage over the (can not even begin to estimate) but we will call it gobzillions of dollars, that has been paid in the past, lets just say forty years, in fraudulent welfare, social security, disability, and unemployment to people who live off the backs of hard working people? How many big screen tvs, cars, drugs, alcohol, and stereos have been purchased by AIG execs for these people? Were there any restrictions placed on what they could do with their “bailout funds?”
Does Mr. Goodwin have a foot taster?
Team Obama is doing to this country what the terrorist started on 9/11. This country is being taken over from within. That way the terrorist wont have to dirty it up with radiation or bio fallout. They can just walk in and assume command along side their leader Hussein.
Dick Morris?
