AIG chief worried about safety after death threats
2 hours 48 mins ago

The head of AIG told the U.S. Congress on Wednesday he was reluctant to reveal the names of employees who took home bonuses because the troubled insurer has been receiving death threats.

"All the executives and their families should be executed with piano wire around their necks," Edward Liddy, chief executive of American International Group Inc, read from one note.

"I'm looking for all the CEOs' names, kids, where they live, etc.," he read from another.

Liddy, who took over at AIG in September, was testifying before a congressional subcommittee investigating why the giant insurer paid out $165 million (116 million pounds) in bonuses after getting billions of dollars in a federal bailout.

"I'm just really concerned about the safety of our people," Liddy said of his willingness to release the names of the bonus recipients.

Barney Frank, chairman of the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee, said their identities should be made public anyway.

"If we give in to these kind of threats we would never get information made public about a lot of things," he said, adding he would talk with law enforcement officials to determine the severity of the threats.

Frank called the threats "despicable" and said law enforcement officials should track down those who make them.

But he said the committee would move to issue a subpoena to find out who got the bonuses if AIG does not provide the names voluntarily.

If you didn't hear it, Bawney INSISTED on the names despite children being involved. He is one sick individual.

He’s not a ‘breeder’ ... why would he care?

The head of AIG told the U.S. Congress on Wednesday he was reluctant to reveal the names of employees who took home bonuses because the troubled insurer has been receiving death threats.

C'mon, now AIG Head. Sen. Grassley explained that he was speaking metaphorically.

By the way, Sen. Grassley is from Iowa.

I wonder how much taxpayer money has been sent to greedy corn farmers over the years?

You think it might total in the millions?

Lets not go nuts people. It is always the case someone pushes too far in politics and loses the right to discuss the issue.

Keep it all civil.

?

The only thing uncivil is the actions of those this thread is about.

We will continue to discuss their incivilities and horrible deeds.

Keep bumping these threads.

I'm pretty sure their pay was electronically transferred as scheduled. Why?

I was disgusted by the way the Democrats treated Ed Liddy today.Mr.Liddy should tell Obama that he apologize for the way his GOONS acted at the INQUISITION today or they can look for another CEO for AIG.

When Ed Liddy was CEO of Goldman Sachs, his employees were the second biggest donors to Barack Obama. Once Ed finishes his stint looting the taxpayers at AIG, he shouldn’t have any problem landing a position in the Obama administration, back together with his fellow cronies Hank Paulson and Robert Rubin.

So you like this guy, huh?

I guess you watched the INQUISITION.I do not think he should have been treated the way he was.I’ll bet a lot of the INQUISITORS would work for a dollar a year.

Numbered offshore accounts?

Nah. This wasn't some underhanded ordeal. It was pay for services rendered under contract.

I do not think he should have been treated the way he was

Then he can quit. But if he did that he wouldn't have been able to funnel taxpayer money through AIG into Goldman Sachs.

What services? Losing billions? Looting the Treasury? Donating to Democrats in Congress?
