The birds feed on carcasses of large animals such as deer, cattle and sea mammals and sometimes ingest lead shot. Any cattle they find would most likely have died of natural causes. Deer are usually killed with bullets or slugs, many of which completely penetrate the animal and cannot subsequently be ingested. I've never even heard of a sea mammal being shot, but I'm sure it's happened. Nothing like a reporter who didn't really do any homework on the subject matter.

"We want to take a leadership role in removing lead from the environment." Hmmmm....isn't lead mined? Good luck removing it all.

Surely we are talking shotgun pellets and not bullets? If bullets are covered then I guess we can order, “evil steel jacketed, armor piercing” rifle bullets again, to take our deer? Maybe we will just have to club them to death.......the deer I mean.

I prefer to let nature take its course and allow the evolution of lead-poisoning resistant condors through natural selection.

Maybe they'll start a Dept. of Homeland Lead Elimination. Nominee for the department head.

Won’t using steel ammo on deer be less effective? I’d rather use a round that expands and stops than one that goes straight through. But then, the greenie-weenies don’t care about hunting or clean kills anyway...

"We want to take a leadership role in removing lead from the environment." Journalists don't have a lock on stupidity.
Only a few billion tons of lead in the US, or is it trillions of tons?

"
... In June 2000, the Massachusetts Fisheries and Wildlife Board voted to prohibit the use of all lead sinkers for the taking of fish in Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs, the two bodies of water that support the core of that state's loon population."
Well there you are.
If they drain those two reservoirs these loons will die off and we can get back to the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
Me? ... I'm saving my lead for the enemies of this Republic.

THIS IS A LIE. YOU CAN NOT HUNT IN A NATIONAL PARK!!!!
You can not shoot in a national park!!! This guy is an idiot.
Fishing is restricted. Klinton signed the National Parks over to the UN anyway.

I am reminded of a story a friend of mine told me about an attempt to shut down a local rod and gun club. They did an environmental study for lead in the water supply and found there was more lead upstream than there was downstream. The study was burried and the rod and gun club is still operating.

There are natural elements in soil that bind up free lead. This is an antigun move not a proenvironment move.

Would you care to go into more depth about elements that bind up free lead?
It would be helpful when fighting antiguners.
Thanks
