WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama's new computer chief, already on leave after an FBI raid at his old job, turns out to have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft in 1996 when he was 21 years old, court records show.
It was the latest case of damaging information emerging publicly about one of Obama's choices after he announced their appointment or nomination.

Not any longer. Another recent thread has him reinstated.
Damn we have a bunch of kids running the country right now.
What is it going to take to get the personnel director in charge of vetting fired?
Yep. What a coinkydink. I guess al-AP missed this morning’s call: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2208578/posts
“when he was 21 years old”
This one is not a big deal to me. He did his probation, paid his fine and got his record changed to no conviction. I did a lot of things at 21 I am not proud of. At least he wasn’t a terrorist or a tax cheat.
They'll call it "youthful indiscretion" and say it was a long time ago. Then they'll do another story on Palin's husband's 20-year-old DUI.

The list, ping
There is no doubt there is a double standard for Democrats. Look how they used to claim Bush used Cocaine but give Barry a pass. Still...I would indeed write this off as youthful indiscretion. He is 34 now.
Well, I agree with all who say the incident in the headline may not be that big a deal, however, he is currently also suspended from his post pending an ongoing investigation of the DC Government office he headed before joining the Obama administration. The FBI raided that office and made several arrests on corruption charges.
“The FBI raided that office and made several arrests on corruption charges.”
Well then, I withdraw my defense of the lad. I didn’t see that part.

I can appreciate your point BUT he is not going to be an IT guy for the local dentist. He is goin to be working for the POTUS. In my book that means that the bar has to be set a lot higher.
Does a CIO need any kind of security clearance?
“Does a CIO need any kind of security clearance?”
DUH!
Sorry to have been so stupid to ask the question.
I’m just aware of the folks I know who have pretty high security clearances have to have spotless records.
Well ok, but you are setting the bar higher than the President himself could get over. Remember Bush’s DUI? I don’t think that first incident should be enough to fire him.
If he’s done something else, well that’s a different story. You know, Scott Peterson had a spotless record before he killed his wife.
I believe in some degree of redemption and rehabilitation. Soon with the way they keep records now, no one will be qualified for anything. It is easy to get a criminal record these days.
Is this the same raid where the FBI called Obama in advance to tell him and his communist buddies that they were coming?
"Professional" and "FBI" do not go in the same sentence.
There is no stupid question, but the CIO of a corporation or company has access to it’s most valuable secrets.
