A few days ago I posted about the Obama administrations plan to rob soldiers of some of their medical benefits. Today the head of the American Legion (the nations largest veterans organization) paid a visit to Obama to talk about the issue, and he didnt leave happy.Normally I am a staunch advocate of limited government and privatization. But in this instance we have troops who served their country, often in awful war zones that left them scarred and maimed, and they did so with the assumption that medical care would be one of the benefits theyd receive as compensation. The government has no business trying to opt out of that.

He could absolutely be several fractions as bad, and then the right would get the blame.
Rumor has it that it's good etiquette to ping other Freepers you talk about, if you're talking about them publicly.
The leftists characterize the actions RINOs such as Bush and McCain (and yes, Bush was a RINO) as being representative of conservatism in general, so when they fail, they use such failure to discredit both conservatism and libertarianism simultaneously.
Will the military shoot at their brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers-—or will they turn their weapons on the elite overlords?
Read up on the Bonus Army from FDR’s days. Patton and MacArthur were in charge, and our troops fired on WW I vets and razed their protest camp in D.C. Several were injured, and a baby was killed.
It is ironic that one of the results of the Bonus Army protest was veteran’s benefits.
good God. confused a bit here are you? okay son, whatever you say, but how about letting the adults talk now and you go back to your cartoons somewhere.
Never let a good train wreck go to waste!
Rabs is right, and you are wrong. It is called a "courtesy ping", and it is very bad form to talk about another FReeper without pinging him to the post.
It is simply a matter of having good manners and reasonable civility.
It was all hope, change, pie, and suntan.
Tough to beat that with someone who is always 'reaching across', even though I think Sarah gave him a lot of votes he might not have had otherwise (I voted for her).
So, in a year, they can all point to the honorable men and women who cannot afford health care after having been injured in the service of their country and use it to push Socialized Health Care.
Typical Liberal/Democrat: create a problem, then push the bogus (Marxist) solution. Just another step toward State control of everything.
Hey, who are these alien bird-like greenish creatures about to kiss above the microphones? And why is 0bama's phantom green-gray head looking at them gleefully like a vulture spying some serious soon-to-be dead meat, just like the American family?
Art Bell, splain this one please?
Aaaaaaahhhh!
Only, the soldier is wounded, and Obama is handing him a bill.
WOW! I never noticed that in this picture before! Not only is Bambi an illigal alien, he’s an ET alien!
They weren’t exactly his demographic in 08....
And capitalism. Obama uses big government Bush as an example of how capitalism failed and as an reason for more Bush like big government deficits. Bush cut taxes. Whoopie! He spent the money anyway which is still a tax. The tax may be future inflation but it's still stealing but more dishonest than taxes.
I am also a veteran (26 years +) who voted for McCain as the lesser of two evils. The only "Change" we could have voted for was a change for the worse in either case with McCain only marginally better.
There's a bunch of :”AHHA, We were right about Iraq all along, the surge worked” posts cropping up the past couple of days and I am raining on them with :”You are 4 years too late. GWB sold us a two year war, the extra four years required to straighten out the mess destroyed the party and eventually the country(economically) “ Bush could never borrow enough national debt to buy back the love he lost by invading Iraq and in the process destroyed capitalism ala Pelosi/Obama.
First of all, not all vets get “free” medical care. Yes the VA covers most, but a lot of us use TriCare which we pay a modest premium for.
Second, I believe this move to be so politically untenable that there will only be a few kooks in the House and Senate that even come close to supporting this. I believe this to be a trial balloon to see who’s on his side and as one poster mentioned to see if he can’t get things to come to a head sooner rather than later.
Third, FUBO!!! For even considering this you have cemented your reputation in the eyes of honorable servicemembers from this great country as the most inept, worthless, socialist POS that has ever walked the face of the planet.
I hope to live to see the day that you are made to pay for the damage you are causing to my country.
SZ
Hopefully, for your sake, there's a 10-step program for your condition.
Get Well.
