A few days ago I posted about the Obama administration’s plan to rob soldiers of some of their medical benefits. Today the head of the American Legion (the nation’s largest veterans organization) paid a visit to Obama to talk about the issue, and he didn’t leave happy.Normally I am a staunch advocate of limited government and privatization. But in this instance we have troops who served their country, often in awful war zones that left them scarred and maimed, and they did so with the assumption that medical care would be one of the benefits they’d receive as compensation. The government has no business trying to opt out of that.

If I mention someone else in a post I almost always ping them. [I have forgotten every now and again, but never forget to ping if it is a challenge. ] It’s just good freeper etiquette.
One thing I can say for sure...I would hold my nose and vote for any one of them before I would vote for Obama.
My personal opinion is that once the primaries are done and there are 2 candidates, voting for a third party candidate is the same as not voting. Too much is at stake.
Not too many people mention how Saddam yanked Clinton’s chain for years.

and on and on and on. Bush presented what the world thought to be true. He gave Saddam notice. He offered up a chance. Saddam chose to call his bluff. Bush wasn’t bluffing. :-)

I came up with another one. The fact that GWB did not call for a Iraq reconstruction tax in 2004 (HIS re-election year) to pay for it instead of debt. His Bush-bots demanded tax cuts for themselves instead of FUNDING THE TROOPS with an Iraq reconstruction tax shows they are cheap flag waiving phony patriots. Their contribution is to say “Go Bush! I am a great patriotic American. Stop complaining about fraud in construction spending in Iraq you traitors. Me pay more taxes for Iraq? Let YOUR kid pay for it. Not me ! I demand a tax cut. But I got this flag and LOVE Bush.“ Chances are Bush would have lost 2004 if he did raise taxes for Iraq. The rubber would have met the road.

So you’re saying that the President should be able to go to war whenever HE decides? That he should not have to seek a proper declaration of war that specifies the grievances between our nations and lays out the reason for going to war? That it doesn’t MATTER whether or not Congress is on board and FULLY COMMITTED?
Now, aside from Grenada, the last time we WON a war was WWII. And WHY, you may ask, was that? Because:
a.) It was (and was seen as) a Just War;
b.) The President laid out the facts and the grievances between us and Japan to Congress and the American People;
c.) Congress DECLARED WAR on the Empire of Japan and promised the President its WHOLEHEARTED support for the duration; and
d.) They did it again when Germany and Italy declared war on US.
That’s a far cry from what Bush the Younger did when he went to war with Iraq... and if you try to tell me about UN sanctions again, I will barf. Then I’ll package it up and ship it off to you. It won’t be a pleasant thing to see.

Subj: Philosophy of Life
Mayonnaise Jar & Two Beers... When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full.
They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’
The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed..
‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things-—your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions-—and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.
The sand is everything else-—the small stuff.
‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Spend time with your children.
Spend time with your parents.
Visit with your grandchildren
Take time to get medical checkups with your Cardiologist.
Take your spouse out to dinner.
Play another 18 and an occasional emergency nine.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
Take care of the golf balls first-—the things that really matter.
Set your priorities.
The rest is just sand.
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented.
The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’
The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

You are right and I vote straight ticket myself..I will say this I agree with Saddam being removed Not the way the War was ran.

Exciting? Huh? Bush was a tragic disappointment. The GOP was in it’s strongest position since BEFORE 1930! And the opportunity was squandered. This angers and saddens me, it does not excite.

????????????? “your party”..... now you have me wondering about all your anti-so and so posts here rabscuttle with a post like this.... and now is definitely not the time and this thread is certainly not the place to intimate Obama was a better candidate and potential POTUS than McCain... unless the election actually went the way you wanted all along... things under this President are going very bad, very fast, and these are the times people grow up, drop the B.S. and decide which side of the country they support...
