The weekend did nothing to quell the ongoing war between Meghan McCain and Laura Ingraham.
McCain, daughter of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, came out last week and responded to Ingrahams remarks that she was "plus-sized," remarks that were a direct result of McCains public criticism of the Republican Party.
Ingrahams comments also included some disrespectful dismissal: "Do you think that anyone would be talking to you if you werent kind of cute and you werent the daughter of John McCain?" She went on to mock McCain as a heavyset Valley girl.
McCain wasted no time biting back, and took more shots at Ingraham on todays episode of "The View," telling the girls, "When Tyra Banks went on her show in her bathing suit and said, Kiss my fat ass, thats what I feel right now. Im like, Kiss my fat ass!" Ms. McCain, who writes for The Daily Beast, also said that Ingrahams remarks hurt more than just her. Via Think Progress:
What do young women think when I speak my mind about politics and I want to have a political discussion about the ideological future of the Republican Party, and the answer is, Shes fat, she shouldnt have an opinion. What kind of message are we sending young women? It infuriates me. Im a political writer on a blog, and all of a sudden Im too fat to write?
Ingraham responded immediately, and said on her radio show:
The bottom line is its rough and tumble out there. You wanna put yourself out there as someone whos going to redirect the future of the Republican Party, and youre going to have to deal with satire. Youre gonna have to deal with people teasing You gotta just take a chill pill Can I say lighten up or is that offensive too?
No, its not offensive, but remarks on McCains weight certainly are.
Watch McCains appearance on "The View":
weigh in on the issues? ROTFLMAO!!! intentional or not that was funny....
Who here wants to know where they can get a large supply of cheap makeup so they can look like a tasteless escort?
she is a young woman...to be publicly ridiculed...well, I give her the right to have her feelings hurt.....it’s what she does after this that matters. She need to toughen up if she is staying in the political realm, making Laura correct, and lose some weight to keep herself healthy - both physically and emotionally.
And yes, you DO justify fire with fire. If you don't have the stomach for taking on the left in the very mud they sling, then stand to the side while the rest of us do.
BTW, where is your criticism of Mehgan McCain?
I agree that there is nothing wrong with being plus size (unless it affects one's health). However, to describe someone as "too plus-sized" to be a cast member of a hip TV show where everyone is young and very attractive is most certainly an insult IMO.
It doesn't matter to me that Meghan "started it." I would hope that Laura would have the class not to respond in this way.
Totally out of bounds, Laura!
After all, everyone knows that heavyset valley girls can be compellingly attractive, if the lighting and circumstances permit.
And undermines conservatives? Yeah, I think Baby McCain is doing that already without any help from Laura. If McCain is going to go on liberal shows and trash conservatives, then she better be ready for whatever comes her way. She brought it on herself, plain and simple. And she's using YOU to gain sympathy when in fact, she doesn't give a rats butt about conservatives or what they believe.
If Meghan is like her father, she'll be around for awhile. They'll have to carry him out of the Senate on a stretcher.
I like how on The View she pretended not to even know Laura Ingraham’s name. That shows me right there she’s not any kind of conservative , at least not one that keeps on things like she claims. I betcha there is no way in heck she would go on Ingraham’s show should she get an invite. Too afraid to debate someone that will fire back. She would rather go lefty programs and think her “fat ass” is getting kissed when in fact they are just using her.
