Sheriff Arpaio Has No Intention of Testifying Before Conyers Committee on Alleged Immigration Enforcement Abuses Monday, March 16, 2009 By Nicholas Ballasy, Video Reporter
(CNSNews.com) House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D.-Mich.) told CNSNews.com he is going to invite Maricopa County (Ariz.) Sheriff Joe Arpaio to testify in his committee about alleged abuses by the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office in its enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. But a spokeswoman for Arpaio told CNSNews.com that the sheriff--who has not yet received an official invitation to testify--currently has no intention of appearing before Conyers committee.
The spokeswoman said, however, that Arpaio welcomes a Justice Department investigation into the way his sheriffs office has handled enforcement of federal immigration laws.
As CNSNews.com reported last week, Acting Assistant Atty. Gen. Loretta King sent a letter to Sheriff Arpaio on March 10 informing him that the Justice Department was initiating an investigation of the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office (MCSO).
The investigation, King wrote, will focus on alleged patterns or practices of discriminatory police practices and unconstitutional searches and seizures conducted by the MCSO, and on allegations of national origin discrimination, including failure to provide meaningful access to MCSO services for limited English proficient (LEP) individuals.

Even a felon would lower his moral and intellectual standards if he testified before those loons we call congress.
Screw them.
Arrest the racist criminal Conyers.
“I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. I don’t recall. Way to go, Sheriff Arpaio!! You out rank those bastards anyway.
BTTT
^tax cheating^ bastards!
More folks, and states,
need to simply refuse to comply with Congress’ edicts and requests.
Is this the real committee or the wacky kangaroo committee Conyers holds on things like criminal charges against Bush and Cheney?
I’d force them to subpoena me if I were Arpio. Conyers may find that he can’t.
I've heard allusions to the high power of Sheriffs, but never the why and how.... Care to elaborate?
There’s a chance that this will turn into a maginficent battle between good and evil — as in Ollie North’s congressional appearance in the Iran - Contra affair.
Go, Joe; but first get yourself immunity so you can be open and frank.
Arizona is lucky to have Sheriff Arpaio. If more sheriff’s were like this guy we wouldn’t have as many repeat offenders.
“I refuse to answer on the grounds that I might tend to ... “
(repeat, over-and-over)
Juck Kongress if they can’t fake a toke!
If Conyers is interested in "abuses" in "enforcement of U.S immigration laws," then why doesn't he investigate mayors of so-called sanctuary cities? Aren't they abusing the enforcement of immigration laws?
San Francisco was putting the illegal immigrant lawbreakers on planes home instead of arresting them. What immigration law covers that?

If he gets a subpoena he'll have no choice.
“Acting Assistant Atty. Gen. Loretta King sent a letter to Sheriff Arpaio on March 10 informing him that the Justice Department was initiating an investigation of the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office”.
A sure indication the good sheriff is doing something right and having a positive effect of illegal immigration.
It’s the kangaroo committee.
Those of you who have a fear of clowns, should stay away from congress and the White House for at least the next four years.
