After years of dismissing the story as false, Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis has confirmed that the story of mankind's origins involving an alien overlord named Xenu is indeed authentic Scientology teaching.

Isn't that to be expected when the 'religion' was started by a guy who wrote Science Fiction for a living?

I grew up reading SF; I really enjoy the genre. Or at least, I used to. I don't much care for what has become of it.

I read "Battlefield Earth", once ... somehow managed to slog my way through to the end. There's a neat short story lurking somewhere within that massive tome. Upon my next trip to the bookstore, I realised to my horror that Elron had written a ten-part series (!!!!) of "Battlefield Earth" books. I grabbed a "Hammer's Slammers" novel instead ...
