Thanks Kathy - The 45th and the 498th were Medical Companies (Air Ambulance). I was in the 498th at Lane Army Heliport near Qui Nhon. The 45th was down south. The Med Co. each had 25 hueys that were assigned 6 to a platoon with one for the old man. The detachments consisted of six hueys with a Commanding Officer of their own.

The 54th, of which Patrick Brady lead, was one of the best regarded dustoff units in country. They set a very high bar for others.

Happy St Patrick's day, Dustoff45...thanks for the added information. Those patches are units FReepers were attached to....dumb me didn't add the names to which is which.
