During his electoral campaign in 2008, Barack Obama said repeatedly that if he was elected president of the United States of America, he would talk to the Taliban.
At the time, Obama’s rival, Ms. Hillary Clinton described Obama’s wish as “naïve and irresponsible”.
Now she is Obama’s Secretary of State and has to obey her boss.
But is it really possible to appease the Taliban?

They are really funny looking.
Negotiator: “Let’s talk.”
Taliban representative: “Firdt I behead you then we’ll talk.”
I detest Obama.
But suppose that you want to go after Mooslims in Afghanistan. Wouldn’t you want to say, “Gee, we extended an olive branch to them, but they just slapped it away. Durn, we tried our hardest to achieve peace through diplomacy first.”
As much as I hate him and the Dems, it makes sense IFF you care about world opinion.

I’m reminded of the scene in the film “Independence Day” where Bill Pullman (the president) is trying to reason with the captured alien when Pullman asks “what do you want of us” to which the alien replies “we want you to die”. In their lighter moments, the Jihadists contend that they would be satisfied if we all just converted to Islam-maybe that’s what Obama has in mind.
I believe in talking at them. “Give up or die.”
